Thepurpose of the invention is to pro- 'vide an effective device for the purpose of raising and lowering windows, particularly such as are used on closed vehicles; the device being susceptible of production in a cheap form so that it may be readily manufactured and, therefore, installed at small Cost.

The invention .is housed in the sash pocketand comprises an operating cable 1 traversing the upper and lower guide pulleys 2 and 3, the latter being rotatably mounted at the opposite ends of a base memher 4, preferably a casting, of cross sectionally channel torm to insure it against,
bending, and provided at the. upper end with a lateral ofl'set extension 5 carrying a pin '6 on which the gear 7 is rotatably mounted, the gear on opposite sides carrying the sheaves 8 and 9 consisting preferably of stamping riveted or otherwise secured to the gear. The extremities of the cable 1 a are secured one to one of the sheaves and the remainder to the other the sheaves being radially bored as indicated at 10, and

Obviously, by theselection oi the desired eye 25, the pressure of the spring 22 may be regulated to secure the desired pressure of the idle roller.

The connector is of angular form, as
shown, and is secured to the operating cable by means of a clamp 33, the cable resting in the angle of the angular portion 3% ot the connector and the clamp spanning said angle and passing through a slot 35 formed in theangular portion having an angular extremity 36 to effect an nterlock between it andthe angular portion of the connector.

The invention having; been described what is claimed as new and useful is:
1,.'Incoinbination with a sliding window, a. base -1I1Qi'i1b81' having idler rolls at its extremities, a cable trained over said idler rolls and connected at an intermediate .point with said window,'a pair of sheaves mounted tor rotation on a common axis and 111 synchronism, and means for turning said sheaves, the sheaves being each radially bored and the extremities of the cable beingconnected one to each of the sheaves and extending through the bores and anchored on the sides thereof. 7
2. In combination with a sliding Window,
:a base member, idler rolls disposed at the extremities of said base member, a cable trained over the idler rolls'and operatively connected with the window, a cable actuating means consisting ota gear, sheaves dis-f with a yielding latch member engaging its teeth.
