GEORGE O. WELLMAN, OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING ROCKINGCHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,629, dated March 9, 1875; application fied September 7, 1874.
-To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE 0. WELL- MAN, of Salem, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented auImproved Folding Rocking-Chair, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to an improved rooking-chair, capable of being folded up into a small compass, and in which the rocker is pivoted to the rear standard of the chair, and
secured to the front standard in a slot in the and the standard A has a metal tongue or plate, H, which fits into the slot in the rocker, and it is secured in place by the hook E and eye F. The standard A extends down outside the rocker, so that the rocker is clasped between the standard and the metal tongue H, which secures it firmly in place.
The seat and back of the chair may be formed in the usual manner, of a single piece of cloth secured on the front and top of the standards.
A hook is provided for securing the rocker in place when the chair is folded up.
I claim as my invent-ion In a folding-chair, the combination and arrangement of the folding rocker G, pivoted to the standard A, and secured at the front end by the hook E.
