CUSPIDOR.
Application filed February 4, 192-5. Serial No 6,838.
This invention relates to improvements in cuspidors, and contemplates the improvements of means over my Patent No. 1,493,669, issued to me May 13, 1924.
An object of the invention is the provision of means whereby a flush valve may be operated through the medium of a manually operated means positioned above the cuspidor.
Another object of the present invention is the provision of manually operated means above the cuspidor for simultaneously operating the flush valve and a normally seated valve or eap, spring hinged, at the lower reduced end of the cuspidor.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of Construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

Figure 1 is a view in, elevation of the invention showing the cuspidor in section.
Figure 2 is a sectional View on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a diagrammatic view showing the invention used in connection with a plurality of cuspidors.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary side elevation of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary sectional View of the lower end of the cuspdor and valve therefor.
Referring to the drawings, 10 indicates a cuspidor bowl which has the usual annular attaching fiange 11' which is suitably secured to a floor as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing. The upper portion of the cuspdor 10 is 'Ormed with a rolled hollow portion 27 eX- tending around the periphery thereof. The water admitted to the cuspidor passes around through its rolled portion 27 and enters the cuspidor through openings or perforations 29 as clearly illustrated in Figures l and 2 of the drawings, the water striking a substantially conical shaped member 24 which is arranged directly beneath the rolled portion 27, and having its restricted openings arranged aXially in alinement with the discharge opening formed in the lower end of the cuspidor as illustrated. The lower neck of the cuspidor 10 has provided thereon a discharge valve 30 which has an Operating rod 31 extendng therefrom and connected to a bell crank lever 32 which is connected to the Operating rod 19 and also with the lever of the flush valve 17 in Figure 1 of the drawing. It will thus be'seen that upon the operation of the manually operated lever 21 that the flush valve will allow water to pass through the pipes 13 and 14 and owing to the centrifugal force of the Water around and within the rolled portion 27 will allow the Water to pass through the elongated openings 29 and outwardly into the cuspidor 10. Simultaneously with the opening of the flush valve 17 the discharge valve 30 will open whereby the water will not be allowed to back up in the cuspidor bowl 10.
It is to be noted in Figures 3 and 4 of the drawings, that a plurality of cuspidors may be arranged in any suitable manner and having a plurality of the same connected to the water pipes and sewage system whereby upon the operation of one of the manually operated means the same will fiush all of the i cuspidors in circuit therewith.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of Construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Havin thus described the invention, what is claime is The combination with a cuspdor having an annular channel around its upper edge and in communication with the interier of the cuspidor, and an opening in its bottom, of a water supply pipe including a vertically disposed branch terminating within said channel, a normally closed pivoted valve for said opening in the bottom of the cuspidor, a valve in said pipe including a lever,a rod connecting said lever and pivoted valve, a bell crank lever pivotally mounted on said pipe, a rod connecting said valve lever to one branch of the bell crank lever, an Operating rod rising from the other branch of said bell crank lever and a manually controlled lever for Operating said rod whereby both ot said valves are actuated simultaneously.
