My present invention pertains to sanitary cuspidors; and has for its general obJect the provision of a sanitary cuspidor which while simple and inexpensive in construction is highly eiiicient 1n the elimination of eX- pectorations and the like and is `therefore Figure 3 isa detail vertical section `here` inafter explicitly referred to.

I show in Figure"1 a Hoor 1 which may be the floor of any apartment or any other place where it is desired to locate my novel cuspidor, and I also show in Figures 1 and 2 the cuspidor per se.
Among other elements my novel cuspi'dor comprises an uprightpipe 1x designed to be :zo connected with a source of Water supply and to maintain the head of water necessary for the maintenance of the cuspidor in a `thoroughly sanitary and wholesome state. The

With a view to averting breakage when the bowl or body is formed of porcelain, a shoul der13, Figure 1, isvprovided adjacent to the apertures 9 and between said apertures 9 and the inner surface of the rim 7 Arranged in the bowl or body and about the base ot the protuberance 5 is a circular series of discharge `apertures 14. The said apertures 14 are vertically disposed in close proximity to the base of the said protuberance 5 and lead directly from the upper side of the Vbetteln 4 to the Waste conduit- 12. Manifestly under ordinary working conditions, the water jetted on the bottom 4 from the apertures 9 will pass together with eX- pectorations through the apertures 14 and to the waste conduit12,and hence there will be no liability of Hlth collectingr in the cuspidor bowl andabout the protuberance. In the event however that the apertures 14 are inadequate for anyV reason to carry off the waterand expectorations, any overilow will be taken care of by the overflow apertures 10 and the conduits l11 in communication therewith.

A cuspidor bowl having a concave bottom, and` a rounded central protuberance thereon and means in said protuberance for conductingflush water tothe topot' the center of the protuberance and further having a pendent waste conduit, and discharge apertures through the bottom and arrangedv about and adjacent to the basent the said protuberance.

A cuspidor bowl having a concave botloin, and a` rounded Vcentral protuberance thereon and means in said protuberanceitor coiiducting flush water tothe topy of the center ot the protuberance and iiurtherhaving a pendent waste conduit, and discharge apertures through 'the bottoni andarranged about and adjacent to the base vof the said protuberaiiee; said bowl also having a riiii with a bore adapted to be connected lto a source of water supply and with jet-apei`- tures in coniniunication with Ysaid bore and directed toward the upper ysurface/oli` the bottoni and said protuberance, anda shoulder between the said' jet apertures and the inner side ot' the riin, and overflow apertures adjacent to the riiii and conduitsuiider the bottom and betweeiisaid overliow apertures and the pendent waste coiiduitat points adjacent rthe lower ends of the first named dscliarge apertures.
