ROPE AND WIRE CLAMP.
Application filed February 11, 1926, Serial No. 87,520, and in Sweden July 30, 1925..
This invention relates to a devicefor preventing the movement in one direction of strapor rope-formed members, particularly adapted for .straps, strings, ropes and the like for the holding of objects.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the invention. Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through the device, and Fig. 2 is a side View of the same.
Fig. 3 is an end View and Fig. 4 a plan View of the device.
In a frame'or a casing 1 a transverse groove or depression 2 is arranged, in Which the pin-shaped end 3 of a clamping lever 4:
is pivotally mounted. The lever 4 is provided with a hole 5 or the like, Fig.1,
through which a pin 6 is inserted, said pin running almost at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the groove and having its end parts supported by the frame. On the pin 6 a cylindrical spiral spring 7 is mounted, one end of which rests against the frame, While the other end lies against one side of the clamping lever. This spring tends to hold the lever in locking position. According as the size of the device is varied, the clamping lever may be provided With several holes 5 for a corresponding number of pins 6. 5-1:- In order that the lever may be changeable the pin is preferably detachably arranged in the frame and the lever is so mounted that, after the removal of the pin, it may be drawn laterally out of the groove.
When the strapor rope-formed member consists of a steel Wire, the clampinglever 4 must be provided with projections and depressions accurately corresponding to the shape of the Wire. Otherwise, the lever to does not effectively lock the Wire as experience has proven. These projections and depressions are most suitably made by means of a Wax cast from the Wire.
Having now described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a clamp of the character described,
the combination With a' pivotally supported clamping lever having a slot extending lengthwise in an arm thereof, of a pin traversing said slot in a direction substantially at right angles to the length ofthe slot, and
spring means carried by said pin and acting against said lever-to normally move the same into operative position.
2. In a clamp of the character described,
the combination With a frame having a-depression therein, of a clamping lever having one end pivotally seated in said depression and an elongated slot in an arm of the lever, a pin t *aversing said slot in a direction substantially at right angles to its length, and spring means carried by said pin and acting against said lever to normally move the same into operative position.
3. In a clamp of the character described, the combination With a frame having a depression therein, of a clamping lever having a head adapted to be removably received in said depression and form a pivot for the lever, an arm of said lever having a slot eX- tending lengthwie of said arm, a pin re-- movably supported in the frame and extending through the slot in'a direction substantially at right angles to its length, and
a spring supported by said pin and acting against said lever to normally move the same into operative position.
4. In a clamp of the character described,
the combination With a frame having a de-- pression therein, of a tWo armed clamping lever having the lower face of one arm serrated and a head at the end of the other arm removably received in. said depression, said second named arm having an elongated slot, a pin removabl; s1. ported by the frame and traversing the slot in. a direction substantially at ri ht angles to its length,.and a spring acting against the lever to normally move the same into clamping position.
