This invention relates to a new and improved candle lamp.

The main object of the invention is the provision of a comparatively simple, efficient, strong and durable lamp adapted for use with a candle formed of slow burning material and which will require little or no attention over considerable periods of time.

Other objects and advantages relate to the details of the structure of the lamp, all as will more fully appear from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the lamp.

Figure 2 is a central vertical section illustrating the candle in full.

Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3, Figure 2.

The lamp as shown comprises a standard -1- of somewhat tubular form and flaring downwardly and having an inwardly eX- tending flange -2- terminating in a downwardly extending flange -3-, leaving a narrow annular flat upper surface on the flange -2--. This flange as perhaps bestshown in Figure Bis formed with a pair of o enings 4lin this instance diametricaflby arranged with respect to the standard and formed with circumferentially eX- tending slots 5 somewhat narrower than the openings -4-. The lamp base -6- is of cup-shape form with the center por*- tion -7- of its bottom wall depressed, the depressed portion being separated from the vertical flange -8- by means of a substantially fiat annular horizontal portion 9 adapted to rest upon the upper surface of the flange -2- while the depressed portion -7- lits tightly within the inner flange -3-.

In order to rigidly and removably secure the base -6- to the standard 1 3 the annular horizontal portion 8 carries a pair of diametrically disposed headed members 11, the heads of which are a size adapted to pass through the openings 4fwhile the body of the member is of a size adapted to fit the slots -5- and the heads are spaced a distance from the lower surface of the wall 9 substantially equal to the thickness of the flange -2- so that when the heads of the members 11 are passed 1926. through the openings 4C a slight rotation of the base 6 with respect to standard 1 will move the reduced portions of the members 11 into the slots 5 and the heads of the members will engage the lower surface of the flange 2 to removably lock the parts together. The base 6 carries a plurality of spaced uprights 12 which may be of desired length and in this instance are arranged within and secured to the vertical flange 8 in any suitable manner, as by rivets 13.

Tn this particular illustration, three of these uprights are utilized and are spaced equal distances apart. -`These uprights at their upper ends are all connected together by a ring 14 to which the uprights may be secured by rivets 15 having projecting buttons 16 to which a chain, cord or other suspending means may be secured when desired. t

All of the parts so far described are preferably formed of metal. A removable pan 17 is arranged within the base 6 and is preferably of much the same shape as the base, but of slightly smaller diameter, eX- cept that it is provided with a substantially vertical portion 28k which fits tightly within a part of the depressed porton 7. The candle utilized in connection with this lamp is preferably formed with stepped or shouldered portions at its bottom,.the upper one of which rests upon the pan or liner 17 whereby the candle is supported. A ver tical shoulder on the candle adjacent the upper horizontal shoulder may lit tightly within the part 18 of the liner, whereby the candle is maintained in proper position. rThe upper end of the candle carries a follower 18 which may perhaps preferably be formed of glass, and in many instances is formed of colored glass. This follower comprises a cylindrical part 19 adapted to surround the upper end of the candle, which cylindrical portion at its upper end terminates in an inwardly extending substantially horizontal flange 2O adapted to rest upon the outer surface of the upper end of the candle 21, whereby the follower is maintained in proper position on and with respect to the candle.

The follower may in addition have a circular and perhaps somewhat flaring upper portion 22 extending upwardly from the flange 20. As the candle 21 burns away,

the lower end of the cylinder 19 will come to rest within the pan or liner 17; otherwise it will follow the candle as the latter burns away.

It will be apparent that the structure described and illustrated herein, is of comparatively simple construction and pleasing appearance, and yet has the rigidity and strength required for the use for which such articles are designed, and that when desired, the standard l may be readily and easily removed from the structure, particularly when the latter is to be suspended from the button 16, andyet when the standard is utilized its securement to the base 6 is of such a character as to render the structure stable.

I claim:

1. A candle lamp comprising a lamp-base including an annular horizontal portion and a depressed center portion within the horizontal portion, a plurality of spaced uprights secured to the lamp base and extending upwardly therefrom', means connecting' said uprights at their upper ends, a candle arranged within the lamp-base, a follower' mounted upon the upper end of the candle and a standard having a horizontal flange upon which the horizontal portion of the lamp base rests, and means for removably securing the lamp base to the standard efected by relative rotary movement ot the parts. A candle-lamp comprising a lamp-base including an annular horizontal portion and a depressed center portion within the horizontal portion, a plurality of spaced uprights secured to the lamp base and extending upwardly therefrom, means connecting said uprights at their upper ends, a candle arranged within the lamp-base, a follower mounted upon the upper end of the candle, a standard having a substantially horizontal flange upon which the horizontal portion of the lamp base rests and formed with a central opening, and a depending flange surrounding the opening, the depressed portion of the lamp base extending through said central opening in the standard and having a portion substantially fitting the depending flange upon the standard.

A candle lamp comprising a lamp base including an annular horizontal portion and a depressed central portion within the horizontal portion, aj plurality of spaced uprights secured to the lamp base and extending upwardly therefrom7 means connecting said uprights at their upper ends, a candle arranged within the lamp base, a follower mounted upon the upper end of the candle and a standard having a horizontal flange upon which the horizontal portion of the lamp base rests, and means for removably securing the lamp base to the standard etfected by relative rotary movement or the parts, and a pan within the lamp base and having a depressed portion formed with a part fitting tightly within a part of the depressed portion of the base and having a vertical flange surrounding the candle and of considerably greater diameter than the ca-ndle.

A candle lamp comprising a lamp-base including an annular horizontal portion and a. depressed center portion within the horizontal portion, a plurality of spaced uprights'secured to the lamp base and extending upwardly therefrom, means connecting said uprights at their upper ends, a candle arranged within the lamp base, a follower mounted upon the upper end of the candle,

a standard having a substantially horizontal vflange upon which the horizontal portion of the lamp base rests and formed withy a central opening, a depending flange surrounding the opening, the depressed portion of the lamp base extending through said vcentral opening in the standard and having a portion substantially fitting the depending'flange upon the standard, and a pan wit-hin the lamp base and having a depressed portion forinedcwith a part fitting tightly within apart ofthe depressed portion of the base and having a vertical flange surrounding the candle and of considerably greater diameter than the candle.
