THEODORE SINGERMAN, F NEW YORK, N. Y.
SHADOWPROOF UN DE RGARMN T.
This yinvention relates to undergarments for ladies wear and particularly to a combined petticoat and bloomers, especially adapted for use with the prevailing modes of dresses and outer garments worn at this time.
As is well known, the fashionablv dressed woman to-day has practically iscarded pettcoats and has adopted as a substitute therefor, bloomers, slips, etc., all of which have certain advantages and some disadvanta'ges,
my invention a garmade of any suitable material, and in any size, with such ornamentations as may be desired, and at a cost that will enable the manufacturer to put out a line at both low and high prices.
I have provided in ment' which can be The construction is such that the garment will fit snugly, but comfortably, at thel Waist and knee, and is also what has co `e to be known as shadow proof, which is an important requisite when the outer garment is of light, sheer, or partly transparent material. I
An important feature in this construction consists of the form and method of attachment of the apron members to the body of the garment, as there is no double thickness of material around the waist, over the hips or down the sides of thebloomer legs. Such double thicknesses are always objectionable for many obvious reasons..
It 1s also obvious that the elastic cuffs atthe bottom of the bloomer legs could be omitted if desired, and that the said lower ends or bottoms couldbe left freely open with openings on the sides of the sald le s. Other advantages and a detailed description are set forth in the following specification, ing, which is a perspective view, with one e aprons or petticoat members turned back-to show how the other apron is positioned. As shown the arment is alike back and front, and there ore reversible in It consists of a body 1, with an elastic waist band 2, and bloomer legs 3 3, in the l ellminated, there .com rising a Y proofing pane and shown in the accompanying draw- Application led September 8, 1925. Serial No. 55,012.
lower extremity of which, elastic .cuffs 4-4 are provided. On both the front and rear of the garment, shadow proofing panels 5 5 are attached on the line 6. These shadow proofing panels are attached to the garment at points between the waist line and crotch, and are of less width than the garment, whereby unnecessary bulkiness is being only a. single thickness of material around the abdomen, hips, and small of 'the back, whereby a slim and stylish effect is produced. The garment is thoroughly shadow'proof between the legs. and yet is of light weight and comfortable to wear. In cases Where heavy material :is used, it would be possible, if desired, to dispense with one of the aprons, and use onlv one of the same.
romthe foregoing,`it will be seen that this article can be elaborately decorated or embroidered, to present an attractive appearance.
I claim:
1. A shadow pair of v bloomers, and a sha oW- roofing panel having its top edge attache to the bloomers at a point between the waistline and crotch thereof, the panel being of less w'dth than the garment, the sides of the panel below the crotch being free from the bloomers, whereby the garment is shadow-proof between the legs, and has only a single thickness of material around the hips and waistline.
2. -A shadow proof ladies undergarment comprising a air of bloomers, and shadowrear of the arment at points between the waistline an crotch, the panels being of less width than the garment, the sides of the panel below the crotch being free from the bloomers, whereby the garment is shadow-proof between the legs, and has only a single thickness of material around the hips and waistline.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
