DISPLAY DEVICE.

This invention relates to display devices, particularly such as are formed of sheet material and which are adapted to stand in display position on a table or counter. The object'of my improvements is to provide a device of the character specified of simple construction, pleasing appearance and which can be readily erected, or collapsed for storage orfor packing and shipping.

lVith these ends in view my improved device comprises features illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the drawing accompanying this specification, wherein Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the device in erected display position. Fig.

2 is a plan view of the fron member of the device of Fig. 1, with the rear member shown by dot and dash lines collapsed thereagainst. Fig. 3 is'a detached plan view of the rear member of the device of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a front perspective view of a modified form of what is shown inFig. 1. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 55 of Fig. 1.

My improved device preferably Comprises front member 2 having a lower base portion 2 adapted for receiving on its face suitable advertising printing. not shown. Said front member is provided with one or more transverse. slots or openings. two such, 3 and t being shown. These are preferably incut from the opposite side edges of said front member just above lower portion 2. The upper portion of said front member 2 may have any desired profile, such, for instance, as the bust and head of a person.

Rear member 5, Fig. 3, may have a lower portion 5 of similar size and contour as the lower portion 2 of'front member 2. The upper portion 5 of said rear member is placed flat against and attached by some convenient means, as an adhesive. to the back of front member 2, preferably just above lower portion 2 and above transverse openings 3, 4:. Oppositely disposed and projecti ng'upwardly from lower portion'5 of rear member 5 are arms 6, 7 adapted to project upwardly through the

transverse openings

3, 4, respectively, of front member 2 when said rear member is assembled with said front member. For holding the device in erected position means are provided for spacing and springing apart the lower por-- tions of the front and rearmembers and for holdingthem in said relation. Said rear member is bent in a curve rather thanon a transverse line ln'spaclng it from said front member when erectlng the device. Ear 8 formed from the lower portion 5 of rear member 5 is" efiicient for this purpose. Said ear is articulated along dot and dash line 9 and may be folded inwardly with its edge 10 against front member 2, thereby separating said lower portions as described, and causing arms 6, 7 to incline forwardly from front member 2, see Fig. 1.

In the modification of Fig. 4 only one transverse slot, as 3, and one forwardly projecting arm, as 6, are shown. It will also be obvious that more than two such arms may be employed if desired.

There is thus produced a simple and attractive display device the erection of which is obvious and which may be collapsed for packing in small space.

I claim 1. A display device of sheet material ineluding in combination a front member having a transverse opening therethrough, a rear member placed flat against and attached at an upper portion thereof to the back of said front member, and means for springing apart the lower portion of said rear member from the lower portion of said front member, said rear member having an arm projecting upwardly through the transverse opening of said front member, said arm being inclined forwardly from said front member when the lower portions of said front and rear members are spaced apart.

2. A display device of sheet material including in combination a front member having a transverse opening therethrough, a. rear member attached at an upper portion thereof to the back of said front member, and collapsible means for spacing the lower por tion of said rear member from the lower portion of said front member, said rear member having an arm projecting upwardly through 100 thereof to theback of said front member, 110

and an ear articulated to the lower portion of said rear member adapted for engagement with said front member for spacing apart the lower portions respectively of said front and rear members, said rear member having an arm projecting upwardly through the transverse opening of said front mem ber, said arm being inclined forwardly from said front member when the lower portions of said front and rear members are spaced apart.

4. A display device of sheet material including in combination a frontv member having opposite transverse openings there- 1 through a rear member attached at an upperportion thereof to the back of said front member, and means for spacing the lower portion of said rear member from the lower portion of said front member, said rear member having opposite upwardly projecting arms extending through said transverse openings respectively of said front member, said arms being inclined forwardly from said front member when the lower portions of said front and rear members are spaced apart.
