still further object ofthe invention'is to utilize the means for adjustingythe lcup i vto ylit pump spouts of various sizes4 andtol l also retain a/plurality of Washers in the cup.
Another object ofgtheinvention is to provide. a `novel form of clamping means which can be quickly andeasily detached from the cu.k h'ese andv other objects are'obtainedby providing ajconstruction and arrangement ofthe-v various parts in the manner hereinafter described-rand particularly pointedout in the appended claims. j

For the purpose of yillustration I have shown my invention mounted on a pump 10,l
' `ly urved which comprises the usual pump lstand or base `11 having an outwardly'and dovvnv'vard` spout 12. The spout'12 is pro c "ideal with an upwardly prcjecting' the mouth with respectl `is entirely eliminated.

or shuttingr off the. flow of water through the spout 12. When the flow of water through the spout 12 is shut oit the water is usually directed through a supplemental conduit or spout substituted in the place of the cap 15 on the rear side of the pump. It it is desired to permit the flow of water through the spout 12 the impertorated washer 29 is removed and the perforated washer 28 is clamped between the mouth 14 of the spout and the seat 21 of the cup forming a water tight connection between these members. In' order to properly yseat thecup on the mouth ot the spout, I have provided a novel construction, which comprises two oppositely disposed pins 31 'formed integrally with and positioned on the outer sides of the band ot' the cap 19. Extending downwardly from each oil these pins is a projection Pivotally connected to the pins 31 in a manner to be easily detached therefrom is a U-shaped member 33. The U-shaped clamping member is provided with apertures in both legs thereof. Communicating with each of these apertures 3l and extending upwardly with respect thereto is a narrow slot 35, which is adapted to permit the U-shaped clamping member to be qiilickly detached from the pins 31 and projections 32 on the cup 19 when the clamping` member is swung` downwardly with respect to the cup to a. position substantially 18() 'degrees from the position shown in Fig. 2. The upper central portion of the U-shaped member 33 is provided with ra threaded. aperture 36 which is adapted to receive in threaded engagement therewith a clamping bolt 37. The. upper end of the clamping bolt 37 is provided with wings 38 for manually adjusting the bolt with respect to the U-shaped member when clamping my improved clevis to a pump spout. The lower end of the bolt 37 has swivellingly secured thereto a curved bracket 39 which is radapted to engage the lug 13 on the pump spout 12 when the clevis is properly seated on the spout.
By reason of the pivotal connection of the U-shaped member 33 with the cup 19, it will be seen that a proper seating of the mouth Ll of the spout 12 on the washers in the cup 19 will readily be had when the clamping bolt 37 is adjusted to a position in which the curved swivelling bracket 39 engages the lug 13 on the spout 12. From the construction just described, it will beseen that a very eticient and practical pump clevis has been provided and one which is adapted to lit pumps of various sizes in such a manner as to prevent any possibility of leakage of water between the cup and the spout.
Vlhile in the above specification, I have described one embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that modilications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope ot my invention. y
lhat l claim as my invention and desire to secure by Lette-rs Patent is:
A pump clevis comprising a cup, a hose connection extendingv downwardly from said cup, a plurality of pins extending outwardly 'from said cup, a clamping` member having oppositely disposed apertures adapted to pivotally receive said pins, there being slots in said clamping member communicatinp with the apertures therein, and means carried by said pinsvco-operafting with the slots in said clamping member for detachably connecting the clamping member to said cup.
ln testimony whereof I have'signed my name to this specification, this 20th day of Apen a. D. 192s.
