PATENT OFFICE.
OLIVER WESTON, OLF WABRENSVILLE, OHIO.
GAME.
Application filed April 7, 1926. Serial No. 100,308.
This invention relates to games and more particularly to a dial and pivotally supported arrow adapted to be spun for designating upon stopping a certain play or name on the dial. 1
' The main object of the invention is to provide a ame of said character, in which is provide a base for supporting a removable dial and simple means for securin the dial to the base. The purpose of provi ing a removable dial is to make it ossible to use in connection with one base different dials for playing various games.
With the above and other objects in View,
the invention will be hereinafter fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings and the novel features thereof will be distinctly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings similar characters of reference are used to designate corresponding parts.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation taken on line 1-1 of Fig. 2, of a game constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan View of Fig. 1.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood, the same is illustrated in the rawings and will be hereinafter fully described as pertaining to a base-ball game, but it will be understood that the invention is applicable to any game in which a disk or dial having designations thereon and a spinning arrow or the like is used to indicate, upon stopping, a certain play or name or the like on the dial.
Referring to the drawings 1 represents a circular base preferably made of sheet metal and consisting of a top 2 and an outwardly turned peripheral bottom flange 3. The top 2 is dished and its center depressed at 4 to provide a chamber 5. A threaded screw 6 serving as a post passes upwardly through an opening 7 of the top, and a nut 8 on said screw within said chamber holds the screw securely in an upright. position. A disk or dial 9 is adapted to rest upon said top 2 and is secured thereon b means of a flanged nut 10 on the screw 5. he upper portion of the screw 5 is reduced in diameter at 11 and terminates'in a point 12. A head 13 of suitable form and weight terminates in a central boss 14 for convenience in spinning the head and having a central recess 15 in its underside for receiving and clearing the flanged nut 1.0 and an opening 16 for receiving the upper portion 11 of the screw 5, isrotatably mounted upon the point 12 of the-post. An arrow 17 is fixed to the head 13 for the purpose of indicating, after the head has been spun, a particular designation upon the disk or dial 9.
- The disk or dial 9 issuitably marked off by radiatin lines as 18, and in the spaces between said lines are suitable designations 19 as shown. The designations shown are for a base-ball game but this is only by way of illustration, and it is to be understood that any other designations for games or the like may be marked upon the disk or dial.
.When it is desired to remove one disk or dial and replace another upon the top 2 of the base, it is only necessary to remove the head 13 b lifting it oil'the post 5, then turning o the flanged nut 10 and lifting oil the dial or disk. Openings 20 are provided in the top 2 for inserting the finger underneath the disk or dial to force' the same thereofi'.
Having fully described my invention what I claim is:
1. In a game, the combination of a base, the base having a top, a threaded post fixed in the top, a nut mounted upon the post and adapted to engage a dial resting upon the to of the base, and a head pivotally supporte upon the post.
2. In a game, the combination of a base, the base having a top, a threaded post fixed in the top, a nut mounted upon the post and adapted to engage a dial resting upon the top of the base, a head pivotally supported upon the threaded post, and the head having a recess for clearing said nut. 1
3. In a game, the combination of a base, the base having a top, a threaded post fixed in the top, a nut mounted upon the post and adapted to engage a dial resting upon the top of the base, a head pivotally supported upon the threaded post, the head having a recess for receiving said nut and an arrow fixed to the head.
4. In a game, the combination of a base, the base having a top, the top being dished,
the central portion of the .to being dea disk resting upon said top, a head, the pressed to provide a chamber, t e top being head bein pivotally supported upon said provided with an opening at its center, a screw, the ead being provided with a recess 10 threaded screw passing through the opening, for clearing said flanged nut, and an arrow 5 a nut on the threaded screw within said fixed to said head.
chamber for securing the screw to the top, a In testimony whereof I afiix m si ature. flanged nut 0n the screw adapted to engage OLIVER ES ON.
