UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 3 Claims.

This invention relates to games, and particularly to games including movable members supplied With indicia, the movable members being rotated by means controlled by the players, to the end that When the movable members lose their momentum and cease to rotate, certain combinations will be set up between the indicia on adjacent movable members, whereby the count or points of the game are determined.

An important object of the invention is to provide a game of this character wherein a plurality of operating members are provided for operating the movable members, the operating members being controlled by a single bar, which acts to rotate certain of the operating members and movable members in opposite directions to set upy the combinations of indicia, deciding the points of the game.

With the foregoing .and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts andin the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein described, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings:

Figure 1 is a plan view of a game constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse sectional View through the game.

Figure 3 is a fragmental detail view illustrating the innermost movable member, and means for operating the same, portions of the operating members being broken away, illustrating the pins that cooperate Withthe teeth of the inner rotary section.

Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view through the operating means.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the game comprises a box-like body portion indicated generally by the reference character 5, which has its upper side open, so that the rotating members of the game, will be clearly visible.

Secured within the bottom of the box-like body portion 5, is a bearing plate 6 which is proi vided With an opening through which the screw 1 extends, the screw 'I extending into the lower end of the post 8, securing the post 8 in an upright position, as is shown by Figure 4 of the drawings.

Secured to the post 8, are the game members, indicated by the reference character 9, each of the game members including an inner section or hub I0, which is provided with teeth II, the teeth of certain of the hub sections extending inV opposite directions.

Associated with each hub section, is a ring g5 member I2, the ring members being provided with bores in which the pins I 3 operate, the pins being normally urged into engagement with the teeth II, by means of the coiled springs vI4 supported within the bores and engaging the 10 heads of the pins I3. The ring members I2 have their adjacent surfaces provided with grooves to accommodate the ball bearings I5, reducing friction to a minimum, and insuring the free and easy operation of the ring members I2. A disk l5 indicated by the reference character I6 is secured at the lower end of the post 8, and provides a support for the ring members I2, which are shown as mounted thereabove. The reference character I'I designates a gear that operates 20 in a horizontal plane, the gear being secured to the disk I6, and inner sections or hubs I0 of the operating members, by means of the pins I8 that extend through registering openings in the inner sections or hubs, disk I8 and gear I'I. Thus it 25 will be seen that as the gear I1 rotates, the inner sections or hubs of the operating members will be rotated.

Mounted within the body portion, and secured to the bottom thereof, are guide members I9 30 through which the operating bar 20 moves, the operating bar 20 having teeth 2I formed along one edge thereof, the teeth 2l contacting with the teeth of the gear Il, to rotate the gear. One end of the operating bar 20 is formed into a handle 35 22, where the operating bar may be pulled against the tension of the coiled spring 23 which has one of its ends connected to the operating bar, the opposite end thereof being secured to one Wall oi the body portion, as at 24,

Secured to each of the ring members I2, are a number of arms 24, Which have upwardly extended outer end portions 25 on which the circular plates 26 are secured, and since these arms 24 are longer than the adjacent inner arms, it 45 will be seen that these circular plates, Vary in diameter, and provide what may be termed a flat game surface. Appropriate indicia may be supplied on the circular plates 26, which may be in the form of numbers, letters or Words, to meet 50 the requirements of the game.

On playing the game, each player takes his turn at operating the bar 28, which is done by pulling the bar and releasing the bar, allowing the spring 23 to return the bar to its normal 55 position. With each movement of the bar 20 as described, certain of the circular plates 26 are rotated in one direction as the bar 2B is pulled outwardly, owing to the construction of the Which the points of the game may be decided.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

l. In a game apparatus, a body portion, a plurality of superimposed game pieces mounted for rotary movement Within the body portion, each game piece comprising a hub section and a ring member, teeth on the hub sections, the teeth of adjacent hub sections extending in opposite directions, spring-pressed pins carried by the ring members and engaging the teeth of the hub sections, rods connecting the hub sections, operating means adapted to operate the hub sections in one direction, and then rotate the hub sections in the opposite direction, whereby adjacent ring members are rotated in opposite directions, and circular game plates rotated by the ring members.

2. In a game apparatus, a body portion, a post rising from the body portion, a supporting disk mounted for rotary movement on the post, a

plurality of superimposed game pieces mounted on the post, each game piece embodying a hub section and a ring member, arms extending from the ring members and circular plates secured to the outer ends of the arms, ratchet teeth on the hub sections, the ratchet teeth of adjacent end sections being inclined in opposite directions, spring-pressed members carried by the ring members and cooperating with the teeth of the hub sections in rotating the ring members when the hub sections are rotated, means for connecting the hub sections, means for rotating the hub sections Whereby the adjacent circular plates are rotated in opposite directions, and said circular plates having indicia formed thereon,

In a game apparatus, a body portion, a post rising from the body portion, a plurality of super imposed hub sections mounted for rotary movement on the post, means for connecting the hub sections, teeth extending from the hub sections, the teeth of adjacent hub sections being extended in opposite directions, a ring member positioned over each hub section, means for rotating the hub sections in one direction, and immediately rotating them in the opposite direction, clutching means on the ring members and engaging the teeth of the hub sections whereby adjacent ring members are rotated in opposite directions, and game plates movable With the ring members.
