UNITED STATES n PATENT oF FICE. y
OTTO J'. HERMANN, 0]."` LAKKEIVOOD, OHIO.
Application led .Tuly 5,
upon convenient removal and reversal of certain parts; and to devise such an arrangement which, at the same time, is of comparatively simple and compact construction and which therefore can be manufactured and sold at comparatively low cost.
Other objects will appear from the follow-V ing description and claims when considered together with the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view; Fig. 2 is a view taken on. line 2 2 of 1; and Fig. 3 is a View taken on Vline 3-8 of Fig. 2.
The box l, which may be of circular, rectangular, or other suitable form, may be stamped out of metal and is provided witha centrally disposedupset portion 2 which is adapted to have permanently secured thereto the post 3. This post has its upper end pointed and is adapted to support for rotation thereupon the hollow shank portion 4rof the handle or spinner element.
which the disc 6 is adapted to abut and to be secured thereagainst by means of the nut 7 engaging the screw-threaded portion 8 on the shank 4. The lmuiled upper end portion 9 is adapted to bc engaged by the fingers of the operator for spinning the disc which is supported and carried in themanner just now described. The disc 6 is provided with two different sets of cliaiacters upon each side thereof, each set of characters representing a certain form of game, as will appear from the drawing'.
There is provided a cover 10 which has frictional engagement with the top portion of the box 1 and has an inwardly extending flange portion 11 Ywhich overhangs the marginal edge portion of the disc 6. The flange 11 serves asa means of protecting the edge yportion of the disc and at the same time af-` fords a convenient means of support for the arrow`12 which may be painted thereupon or stamped in the metal of the cover.A
As will be'seen from the drawing, the cover y is readily removable fromv the box and the spiniierelement is also removable from the` box 3 after the cover has been removed. The
disc'may be removed from thevspinner ele-l ment upon removal of the iiut 7 and the disc may be reversed, with the result that either This spin- 1 ner element has a shoulder portion 5 againstk 1928. Serial No. 290,594.
side of the disc may be displayed so as to employ the games upon either side .of the disc.
In using the game, the idea'isto spin the disc and to employ either the outer orinner series of indications upon the one surface of the disc. For instance, as shown in Fig. 1, the outer series of indications represents a golf game, ywhereas thel inner series refers to an airplane flight. Theplayers will take turns in spinning the disc and will note which indication comes to position opposite the arrow 12, according to which of the two games is being played. Recordwill then be kept for. each playery of the diiferent indications which come opposite the arrow, the entire game. f
l,Then when it is desired to play one of the othergames on the reverse side .of the disc, it is merely necessary to move the nut 7 and to follow the-procedure above outlined. The
throughout outer series of indications on the reverse side in structure Vand which at the same time affords the possibility of playing any one of several different games by simply reversing the disc Aupon its supporting member. By means of the cover, as above described, the edge of the disc, which may be of cardboard or any other suitable material, is protected,
and furthermore, the disc is prevented from i unduly 'Wobbling Because of the comparatively simple strucf ture here involved, this amusement device may be manufactured and sold at comparatively low cost and at the Sametime, it is well adapted for attractive decoration. An-
other advantage consists in the fact that both the post and the cover therefor may' be stamped out of metal, which furthermore serves Atoward the simplicity of construction and low cost of manufacture.
Further advantages will be obvious to one invention,l relates.
What I claim is; y
An amusement device comprising a box, an upright post secured in the bottomy of said who isslilled in the art to which the present box, av spinner means having a hollowv shankv portion rotatably and removably mounted upon said post, said spinner means having a shoulder and a screw-threaded portion, a ceniio marginal portion ofwseid disk, en indicator provided noon the said flange for eri-opera- Ytion with said series of indications, whereby seid disk` may he reversed upon removal and adjiietinent of said removable parte, substantiaily as described In testimony whereof, l hereby a'iix my signature.
