FISHPLATE CLAMP.
Application filed January My inventionV relates to lisli-plates and rail joints, and more particularly to boltless clamps for the same, by means ot which the rails may be securely held in proper relation to each other and all creeping is prevented.
The object of the invention is to so construct the same that it will have but few parts, may be easily and cheaply' manufactured, can be assembled with ease, and the parts composing the saine may be repaired or restored with little labor.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like symbols of reference represent corresponding parts in the several views Figure Al is a plan view of the device as the same appears assembled, or in its oper ative position;
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view on the line 2 2, Figure l;
Figure is a perspective view of a portion ot' the plate showing yslot in the saine;
Figure et is a view of one of the pillar blocks, having a dove-tailed tongue to be received in the slot in the tie plate; and,
Figure 'is a key to lock the pillar block.
ln the drawings, l represents a set screw l 'for locking the key 2 to the pillar block thus holding the latter in place. The key 2 has a plain surface on the side neXt the set-screw, the side next the pillar block is undercut, the side next the rail inclines inwardly at its base, and its outer or opposite side is undercut. The opening 7 is undercut or dove-tailed to correspond with the tongue of the pillar block. 12 is the loose, and 13 the rigid, block.

A rail joint, comprising a rigid block to engage one side oit' a rail, a tie plate 7 formed with an opening having a reduced portion, a pillar block vhaving a dovetailed tongue adapted to be received in the `opening and silde within the reduced portion, and a key also adapted to be received in the opening to lock the pillar block tongue to the tie-plate. l
2. A rail joint,'coniprising a tie-plate, a rigid, and a movable, pillar block engaging Athe same, a removable block having a dovetailed tongue, an opening having a reduced portion to receive the dovetailed tongue, and a plurality or' pins connected to the rigid pillarr block and extending tlirough perforations in the rails to hold the saine.

In a device of the character described, a plurality of pillar blocks, one formed with a dove-tailed tongue, a tie plate 'formed with an opening having a reduced vportion which is undercut to receive the dovetailed tongue, anda key to be received in the enlarged por? tion of the opening to hold the tongue when the saine is slid into place.

In a device of the character described, a tie plate formed with an undercut perforation and an inclined side, a pillaij'block lia-ving a depending lug to engage and he locked in the perforation, and a key formed with' two undercut sides and an inwardly inclined side to engage the perorationand be locked in the saine.
