UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGE.
MAGNUS ANDERSON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CORNERS FOR SHOW-CASES.-
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 158,823, dated January 19, 1875; application filed November 21, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAGNUS ANDERSON, of
Chicago, Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Corners for Show- (Jases, of which the following is a clear, full, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents my improvement as ap- Fig. 2 shows the under side of the frame and the mode of fastening the corners. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the line w :12. Fig. 4 is a cross-section through the line 3 y. My improvement relates to metal corners for that class of show-cases designed for counters; and it consists in so constructing them that they may be easily removed for the purposes of cleaning or replatin g, and without disturbing the show-case itself.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact manner in which 1 have carried it out.
In the drawings, A represent a part of a show-case with my improved corners attach ed. B is the wooden frame, and O the metal corner. The metal corner is made by casting, or otherwise, in a single piece, and is properly polished or plated before being applied to the wooden frame-work of the case. It is then let into the wood, as shown at e e in Fig. 2, and there secured by the screws 01 d, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4c, the points of the screws taking hold of the small protuberances 0 cast on the inner side of the metal plate.
This construction does not interfere with the glazing, and the corners are removed for cleaning or replating, and then replaced, without interfering with the glass of the case.
Having thus explained my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, a metal corner for show-cases having the side flanges G, and provided upon its under face with the protuberances c, for catching and holding the screws, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
MAGNUS ANDERSON. Witnesses:
