BELT BUCKLE.
Application led November 20, 1924. Serial No.'751,179. i
hook.
Referring Amore particularly to the drawing, one member of my buckle consists of a plate l, which is preferably formed of metal, and anv artistic design may be imy pressed thereoii. Slots 2 and 3 are formed i in the plate l at each end thereof. One end of the belt 4 is permanently secured to the f plate 1 by threading through the slot 2 and lapping back upon itself, With sleeves 5 5 extending thereover.
The other end of the belt 4 has a hook 6 formed thereon. This hook is' preferably formed by a metallic plate l7, shaped into a hook and secured to the inner face of the belt 4. The shank portion of the hook plate 7 is secured to the belt by a rivet 8, andthe end of the hook is crimped over the endV of the belt 4, as shown at 9, thus securing the plate to the belt and4 forming said belt into the shape of the hook.
A slidable sleeve 10 fits snugly around thel hook end of the belt 4, andwhen the hook 6 extends throughl the slot 3 this sleeve is moved against the end of the plate 1 .and is held in that position by its friction against belt 4 and the clothing of the wearer thus preventing the said hook from coming out'of the slot 3. This sleeve is preferably formed of leather although any other desirable material may be used. The end ,of the plate 7 is turned up to forma stop 11 for the sleeve 10. f y
Having described my invention, I claim: i
1. A buckle for a belt comprising a plate, said plate having a slot formed at each end thereof, a hook formed at: one end of said belt and adapted to enter one slot, a sleeve on said hook, the other end of said belt eX- iv tendingthrough the other slotl and being looped back on itself, and sleeves on said belt surrounding said loopk and belt.
2. A buckle for a belt comprising a plate,
said plate'having a slot formed therein, a v55y hook formed on one end of said belt adapted toenter said slot, said hook comprising a` y plate benty into a. hook, the shank of said hookfrbeing secured to the rear face of the belt, the "end of said hook being crimped over the end of the belt, and a sleeve slidably mounted on said hook. a
3. A buckle for a beltV comprising a plate, .said plate having av slot formed therein, a
hook formed on one end of said belt adapted `to enter said slot, said hook comprising a plate bent into a hook, means to secure said plate to the belt, and a sleeve slidably mounted on said hook and adapted to bear against the end of .said first plate, said plate having 70.
asecond slot formed in the end thereof, the other end of said belt extending through the second .slot and looped back on itself, and sleeves on said belt surrounding said loop and belt.
4. In combination, a metallic plate having a slot at each end thereof, a belt having one end formed in a hook. adapted to engage one `of .said slots, a sleeve slidably mounted on said belt adjacent said end to prevent ac- 80 cidental disengagement of said hook from said slot, and means to secure the other end ofl said belt to the other of said slots.
In testimony whereof I af'X my signaturey f y .I
RAYMOND TERRY eRo'oKER.
