IMPROVEMENT IN SHOE-UPPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 158,601, dated January 12, 1875; application filed August 17, 1874.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be-it known that I, JOHN L. PERRY, of Turner, in the county of Androscoggin, State of Maine, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Shoe-Uppers, of which the following is a description snfficiently full,
7 clear, and exact to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plan or inside view of my improved shoe-upper, showing how it is cut. Fig. 2 is a view of the inside of a left after it is stitched, and Fig. 3 a 'view of the outside of the same.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- Theimproved shoe-upperdescribcd, the same consisting of a single piece of leather cut on the line a b c to form the heel-stay :r, and having the part g provided with the edge (1, corresponding with the line or edge I) c, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
