Description

May 18 1926.
R. M. HALL REIJLACEABLE MEMORANDUM PAD Filed March e, 1924 and the legend Month of Patented May 18, 1926.
ROY ivi. iiALL, or VALPARAISO, INDIANA.
REPLAGEABLE 'MEMORANDUM PAD.
Application filed March 6, 1924.
My invention relates to improvements in replaceable memorandum pads and it consists more especially of the features hereinafter pointed out in the annexed claims..
The purpose of my invention is to provide a monthly replaceable memorandum pad that can be readily and authentically identified, as to the year, the month, day of mouth and day of week; that can be assembled in any desired type or style of cover; and that serves as a source of reference of past appointments, memoranda, etc., etc., when filed away month by month. r y
With these and other ends in view i illustrate in the accompanying drawing such instances of adaptation as will disclose the broad underlying features without limiting myself to the specic details shown thereon and described herein.
Fig. 1 isv a front elevation impartial perspective of my pad.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 shows the pad in assembled relation in a holder.
This present invention is an .important improvement over pads of. this class made heretofore. It is extremely simple and yet remarkably effective in practice. The loutstanding features are instanced in Fig. l. At the top of the pad is printed a series of consecutively numbered years, 192-. The series of years is usually made 1up in groups of five and the annual printings drop the oldest year at the left and add the latest year on the right. Each sheet bears this inscription. At the bottom of the sheet the days of the week Suu Mon.l Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri. Sat. on each sheet and a changing numeral representing the day of the month. There are thirtyone sheets in a pad as a minimum, the first one being numbered l, the next 2 etc., throughout the month.
In use the desired memorandum or appointment is noted in the blank space of the sheet corresponding to the day of the month on which the entry is made, then the corresponding year and day of the week is checked, as shown in Fig. 1, on which there is checked the year 1924, the day of the week Fri and the month February is written in on the 1st of the month.
The sheets of a pad are assembled in consecutive order as single numerals or they may be grouped two or three sheets of the serial No. 697,334.
same number so as to increase the capacity of the pads. They are held together by staples or otherwise. The sheets are identified by the numeral 1, the years by 2, the month of by 3, the days of the week by 4 and the day of the month by 5. 'A flap 6 on the back slips into a pocket formed` on the inside of'one of the covers 7. l have adopted an identifying slogan Lest we forget which is usually printed on the front of the cover and may also be printed on the inside of the cover above the slipin pad 8.
My improved form of pad possesses many advantages over pads which only carry Month of 192- and a numeral on each sheet representing the related day of the month because every item entered on a sheet is immediately authenticated as to date. In addition, the pad has great merit as an advertising medium for banks, etc. They are sold in sets of twelve with a cover for the set. Banks, etc., distribute a cover and a single pad to a customer with the promise of a new pad for each succeeeding month. This brings the recipient of the favor back to the place of business twelve times in a year-an important advantage in any line of business.
TvVhat I claim is:
1. In replaceable memorandum pads, a group of sheets constituting a supply for a single month, each sheet having printed thereon in consecutive order `numerals representing the days ofy the month, an approriately designated space for the month and year, a series of numerals representing a group of consecutive years, the days of the week, means for holding the sheets in assembled relation, and a suitable flap adapted to removably hold the pad in a protective cover.
2. In replaceable memorandum pads, a group of sheets constituting a supply for a single month each sheet having printed thereon numerals in consecutive order representing the days of the month, a designated space for the month and year, a. plurality of consecutively numbered years, and means for holding the sheets assembled at one edge.
3. In replaceable memorandum pads, a group of sheets constituting a single months supply each sheet having printed thereon numerals representing the consecutive days of a month and each of the seven days of 10 space for the month and year, and separate Value numeral sheet-s, means for holding the sheets permanently assembled so the numerals will follow each other in an ascending order sequence, and a flap in common to all the sheets adapted to hold the men'lorandum in a suitable holder.
In testimony whereof I affix my sgnature.
ROY M. HALL.
