UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\ tours E. ISELIE, or VERONA, NEW JERSEY.
PLUG CONNEQTER.
Application filed March 23, 1923. Serial No. 627,070.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS E. Islam, a citizen of the United States, residing at Verona, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plug Connecters;
and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and the characters of refer- 1 once marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and
exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this 'application, and represent in Fig. 1 a plan view, partly broken away,
of a plug connegter illustrating my invention.
Fig. 2 a plan view of one of the plug contacts detached, and shown on an enlarged scale.
Fig. 3 a side view of thesame.
Fig. 4 a sectional view on the line"4-4 of Fig. 3. p
This invention relates toimprovement in plug connecters, that is, devices for making electrical connection with flatirons, percolators, toasters, and other articles which are provided with two contact-pins over which the plug is placed. The object of this invention is to provide a lug with contactgripping-jaws, which wil readily yield to admit the contact-pins and make a close and perfect electrical contact therewith, and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
The plug 5 is of any approved form and design, accordin to the purpose for which it is to be use The plug contains two contact-members, each comprising what, for convenience, I will term a bottom-plate 6, adapted to be secured by a screw- 7 in a groove formed for it in the plug 5. This screw also forms a binding-post for one of the circuit wires. The central part 8 of 'this plate is transversely-bowed, and the outer end curved to form a lip 9. The plate is also formed on opposite sides with perforated ears 10, and near its forward end with downwardly-turned lugs 11. The
lip 9 the usual pins enter.
I claim: 80 In an electrical attachment plug the combination with a chambered plug-body, of two socket members located therein, each comprising two independently-formed, parallel plates shaped to receive a plug axlally between them, and each formed near one end with a perforation and near its opposite end with an ear, and two bowed springs applied to the edges of the said plates by means of the said perforations and ears, located in planes at right angles to the planes of the plates, and coupling the same for their substant" lly parallel separation on the introduct-io of a plug between them. In testimony whereof I have signed this specification. I
LOUIS E. ISELE,
