To all whom, it may conccm:
Be it known that l, iVAirsoN TlArLon, J11, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Folding Lad dei's; and I do hereby declare the following to beat full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skill .d in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention provides a ladder designed chiefly with tiers of berths whereby to ifacilitate'ingress and egress, said ladder being foldable so as to be out of the way when not required for immediate service.
Other objects and advantages will be ap parent and suggestthemselv es as the nature of the invention is understood.
While the drawings illustrate ail embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.

Each of the side piecescon'iprises a top section 1, an interi'nediate section 2 and a bottom section 3, and each of the sections is provided upon the inner side of its upper portion with a recessd to receive a section of a rung when the ladderis folded. The rungs 8 comprise like sections which are hingedlyv connected as indicated at 9 and which are hinged at their ends to the respective sect-ions as'indicated at 10, the respective sections having a rule or butt hinge connection to maintain the rungs in horizontal po-I sition when the ladder is set up for useas ind cated most clearly in Figure 1. Guards 14 are applied to the top and intermediate sections to prevent outward displacement of the sections having slidable connection therewith.
A connector 15 is provided for each of the side pieces and comprises a prong 16 and a clamp 17, the elements of the prong 16 be ing let into openings formed in the top of the section 1, and the clamp 17 engaging a rod 18 or like part provided to form a sup port for the ladder whereby the same be securel held in place to the berth t6 ten dear. entrance and fixit as spending 7 cord 19 or like part associated with the ladder to facilitate the OPt-Bl'iltlfill thereof when raising and lowering the same.
