Beit knownthat we, ANTONI RYBACK and STANLEY RYBAGK, citizens of Poland and the United States, respectively, residing at Deaew, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window Shade and Cur- 7? the invention-having for an object the provisionof a novel and improved device of the above sort.

For further comprehension of the inven- 7 tion, and of the objects and advantages, thereof, reference will be had to the followingdescription and accompanying drawing andto the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

As here embodied our improved curtain support comprises an angular bracket 10 which is fitted on the usual facing strip F of the window frame, being provided with holes such as 11 to receive fastening screws. The arm of the bracket that projects across the face of the said member F is in the form of a rectangular plate 10 to the face of which is secured a skeleton clamping element '12 that is held in'spaced relation with respect to the plate by the ribs 13 that eX- tend'vertically along the edge of the latter. Between the clamping element 12 and the plate 10 a vertical strap 1 1 is positioned and has an earl5 projecting laterally therefrom andsuitablyformed to receive one off u the trunmons of the usual spring r011 R The clamping element 12 is secured to the plate lOby the screws 16 and serves to fix the roller supporting element 15 in place.

By loosening these screws the ,said roller support ng element may be adjusted, across the face of the window framememberF, to bring nearer to or further away from the corresponding element on the other sideof the window.

Slidable longitudinally inthe lower portion of theblock 23 is a bolt 27 that projects at oneend through a longitudinal slot 28 in the top piece 21 and has a head. 29 thereon formed by a rivet header after said bolt is inserted in the bloclgsaid block having on the side remote from said bolt head an opening to allow the insertion of said bolt, and said head 29after formation is adapted to be clamped on. the said top piece. a At its other end this bolt is formed with an up wardly projected finger 30 that extends a short distance into the hollow or recess inclined as shown in Figs. 5 and 8 for a purpose to be presently set forth.

The recess in which the pole P rests is adapted to be covered by means of an anformedin the top of the block. The'upper end of this finger is transversely beveled or gular cover member 33 that comprises a vertical member that extends upward. across the end of the block, and a horizonta'l memher that extends along the top of the block,

the vertical member being hinged at its lower edge as at 341 to the end of the block at the bottom thereof. To retain-this cover ment and carries a finger 37 on its inner end that is adapted to engage the finger 30, being beveled on its end complementarily With respect to the latter as shown in Figs. 5 and 8. The outer end of the spindle has fixed thereto an ornamental knob or handle 38 that is designed to have the appearance of the usual ornamental knob on the end of the curtain pole.

\Vhen the curtain pole is to be positioned in the support the knob 38 is rotated to free the finger 37 from engagement with the finger 30, and the cover member 33 is thrown back for insertion of the pole. lVhen the fingers 30, 37 are disengaged from one another the block 23 is free to be adjusted along the top piece 21 to position it at the desired distance from the Window frame. After the block has been properly adjusted, and the end of the curtain pole inserted in place, the cover member is swung upward, and the knob 38 rotated to engage the finger 37 With the finger 30 on the bolt, thereby locking the block to the top piece and also securing the cover member in place.

Having thus described our invention, What We claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows 1. A device of the class described comprising a bracket presenting a longitudinally slotted horizontal top piece, a block slidably mounted on said top piece and hat ing its top side hollowed to receive the end of a curtain pole, a cover member for the curtain pole end hinged to the said block, and means for securing the said block in adjusted positions on the said top piece.

prising a bracket presenting a longitudinally slotted horizontal top piece, a block slidably mounted on said top piece and having its top side hollowed to receive the end of a curtain pole, a cover member for the curtain pole end hinged tothe said block, and means for securing the said block in adjusted positions on the said top piece, comprising a bolt slid-ably mounted in the said block and projecting at one end through a longitudinal slot in the said top piece, said end of the bolt having an enlarged head thereon, and means for moving said bolt longitudinally in the said block.

A device of the class described comprising a bracket presenting a longitudinally slotted horizontal top piece, a block slidably mounted on said top piece and having its top side hollowed to receive the end of a curtain pole, a cover member for the curtain pole end hinged to the said block, and means for securing the said block in adjusted positions on the said top piece, comprising a bolt slidably mounted in the said block and projecting at one end through a longitudinal slot in the said block top piece, said head of the bolt having an en larged head thereon, a finger projecting from the other end of the "bolt, a spindle rotatably mounted in the cover member, and a finger projecting from said spindle to en gage the first named finger, said fingers having beveled ends forming cam elements whereby rotation of the spindle moves the bolt longitudinally.
