The improvements refer particularly to the means by which the cap is adjusted to fit heads of all sizes within the limits of the ad justment.

In the patent above referred to the front band was formed in two parts on the front face of the free end of one of which were secured spaced sizing means each accompanied by a size index, the free end of the other band being provided on its rear face with a co-operating device for engaging the sizing means selectively. With this construction, except the cap was adjusted for the smallest size, one or more of the sizing means was exposed to view unless the front of the cap body was kept buttoned down to the visor. If not buttoned down the appearance was, to some persons, objectionable. i

The principal object of the preseent in vention is to so improve the construction of these parts of the cap that the sizing means will, under all conditions of wear, remain invisible, the construction affording novel means for accomplishing this object.

WVith the above and other objects in View as will be hereinafter apparent, the inventionconsists in general. of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifi' cally claimed. i

The cap is of the general construction shown in the above mentioned patent and has a body 10 and visor 11 to which the visor may be secured by the snap button parts 12 and The sizing straps are secured to the sides of the rear cap band and extend around the front of the cap just above the visor, one of these straps being shown at 14 and the other at 15. At the free end of the strap 1. 1 is secured a loop 16 preferably made of wire though it may be stamped from metal or otherwise formed without affecting the invention. The free end of the other strap 15 is led through this loop from front to rear and carries at its extremity a suitable member, shown in Figure 2 as a hook 17 and in Figure 3 as a snap button part 18. secured to the rear face of the strap, adjacent its free extremity, is a lining 19 which is made of any desired material such as cloth, metal or leather and.

fact the sizing elements on the twoistraps may be of any kind desired and it is to be noted that, so long as these elements do not pass through the strap 15 so that they are exposed from the front, the lining may be omitted, the elements being secured directly to the rear face of the strap.

Each of these elements has associated member 19 may be made of celluloid, ivory or metal as may be desired, these changes being entirely within the scope of the in vention claimed.

Thus the adjusting elements are hidden easily be seen, if desired, when the cap is off the head.

There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified. It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form andconstruction of the invent-ion without departing from the mate rial spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown anddescribed, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In a cap of the class described, a pair of sizing straps each having its rear end" secured to the cap, one of said straps having a lining on its rear face secured by its edges to the strap to form a pocket behind the strap and concealed thereby, spaced sizing elements fastened to the lining, the fastening means for said elements being concealed' by said strap, and size indicia carried by i said lining and also concealed by the strap.
