INGANDESCENT-ELECTRIC-LAMP FIXTURE.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Trroaras B. CABELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jackson, in the county of Hinds and State of Mississippi, have invented new and useful. Improvements in Incandescent-Electric- Lamp Fixtures, of which the following a specification.
My present invention pertains to incandescent electric lamp fixtures embodying adjustable means whereby it is feasible to employ a shade of a single size in connection with incandescent electric lamps of various sizes, an example of such fixtures being disclosed in my Letters-Patent l gggflgtz daged January lgg lfizfim The iibject of my present invention is the provision of a simplified construction for adjustment purposes, and one in which the locking element is advantageous be cause of its accessibility and also because of the facility with which it may be manipulated to perform the locking function and to effect a release when adjustment is desirable.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification Figure 1 is an elevation of a complete illuminating device including the preferred embodiment of my invention.

My novel fixture comprises a body 1 of )O i 'l or"""""otlrerr insulating" "matei-ial ii 'liihlfiis hollow and is surmounted by and connected to a metallic crown 2 of general bell configuration.
In the upper end wall of the body 1 is a central aperture for the reception of an interiorly threaded bushing 3, connected at a to the said upper end wall.
At its lower end the body 1 is adapted for the attachment by screws 5 or other appropriate means of a shade or reflector 6.
My improvement also comprises an interiorly threaded socket 7 to receive an incandescent electric lamp 8, and a receptacle 9 which carries said socket 7, the said receptacle 9 being provided with lugs 10 for the connection of electric wires and a receptacle including an cxteriorly threaded cylinder 11 disposed and turnable in the bushing 3 and therefore adjustable vertically in said bushing.
Super-posed on and connected to the rcceptacle 9 is a plate 12, Figures 2 and 3, provided in its periphery with a notch 13. Arranged within the hollow body 1 and against the inner side of the side wall thereof is a pin 1% which by resting in the said notch 13 as shown in Figures 2 and 3, is adapted to prevent turning of the receptacle 9 and the cylinder 11 so that the same are adjustably fixed relative to the bushing 3. At its upper end the pin 14 is removably led into a socket 15 in the top wall of the body 1, and at its lower end said pin l l is provided with a reduced extremity 16. The said reduced extremity 16 is normally arranged in an aperture in a plate 17, connected at 18 to the underside or lower end of the body 1. By virtue of this construction it will be manifest that the pin will be normally maintained in the position illustrated in Figure 2 so that said pin 1a will be enabled to preclude turning of the receptacle 9 and cylinder 11. hen, however, it is desired to adjust the receptacle 9 and socket 7 so as to a @curately position the lilament of the lamp 8 relative to the shade or reflector 6 that is employed, the plate lli' is removed, and the pin 14 lowered out of engagement with the plate 12 \\'hereu .-on the receptacle 9 may be turned about its axis for the vertical adjustment of said receptacle 9 together with the socket 7 and the cylinder 11. Then when the socket 7 is in the changed position desired and the notch 13 is again in the position illustrated, the pin 14; is restored to its working position and is secured in such position by the attachment of the plate 17 to the lower end of the body 1.
It will be manifest from the foregoing that my improved construction is simple, inexpensive and durable, and that the plate 17 and pin 1d are readily accessible, and that but little effort is required for the removal of the pin 14:, the adjustment of the receptacle 9 and the replacement of the pin lat and the plate 17.

It Will also be appreciated that notwithstanding the accessibility of the plate 17 and pin 14, the said elements. are so arranged as not to detract in any rneasure from the finished appearance of the nature.

I do not desire, however, to be understood as confining myself to the specific structure disclosed, my invention being defined by my appended claim within the scope ei which structural changes may be made Without involving departure from my invention. In an ii'icandescent electric lamp fixture, the combination of an insulating body hol- 10W inform and having an opening in its end Wall and also having a socket in the inner side of said Wall, an interior-1y threaded bushing connected to the body and arranged in said opening thereof, a receptacle threaded through the bushing and equipped with a lamp socket and with 111621118 for the connection ofelectric conductors, a plate carried by the receptacle and having a notch in its periphery a pin inovabfly arranged in the body and against the innerside of the Wall thereof and also arranged in the notch of said plate and with its end in the socket in the end wall of the body, and a plate deta'chably connected to the body and receiving the opposite end of the said pin.
