HAIR CURLER.
Application filed June 27, 1925. Serial No. 40,020. i
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that L'DoLLn'r'rA MAY AOKER- MAN, a citizen of theUnited States, residing at Long Beach, in-the county of Los Angeles and State ofCali'fornia, have invented a new and useful Hair Curler, of which the follow ing is a specification.
This invention relates to toilet articles and more particularly to hair curlers or crimpers.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device of this character whereby the hair may be curled without the" use of heat and which is so constructed that" the end of the lock to be curled will be se-f curely held before the lock is wound on the n I p band 5. The lock is then woundjon fthe curlertight'ly' to the desired extent and. .then, J thepliable' metal ends of' thel body 10f} the curler are folded over into, the position shown in Figure 3, which s'ecurelyfholds the: curl on theiron and retains it untilmanually curler.
With the view which will appear as the, description proceeds the invention resides in the combi-' nation and arrangement of parts and inthe details of construction hereinafter described and claimed it I being understood that.
changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without depart ing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 represents aplan view of a curler constructed in accordance: with this invention with a lock of hair shown clamped thereby and with parts broken out to show the fabric covering. v
Figure 2 is an edge v ew thereofz andi shown in operative position with the hair wound thereon.
In the embodiment illustrated the curler 1 constituting this invention which is especially adapted for curling comparatively short or bobbed hair, comprises a pliable metal strip which when folded will 'retain its position. One end of'this fiat strip is made wider than the other as shown at 2 and has ashoulder 3 at its inner end to prevent the clamp securing band 5 from sliding off the curler and being lost.
This metal strip is covered with any suit- I able fabric 4 to protect the hair against cut ting by the metal.

tends around the strip 1" and isslidable thereon to engage the free jendof the clamp one end of'the lock'tobe curledisplacedbereleased.
From the tween the clamp and the body of the 'cui'ler v as shown in Figure land the clampswur'igf into position andsecuredbyj the sliding 1i above description itwill be ch-i vious that-the sliding metal- .band 5 will securelyfhold the ends of clamping finger 6 so that the look when wound thereon will not I accidentally release *and .by .making the curler of flat-pliable metal it will" be com fortable to be, worn at night while; sleeping.
By making the curler of flat'metalland constructing it as shown provides for the slipping of the curl from the curler without I I necessitating unwinding thereof. Figure 3 IS a side elevation of the curler finger secured at one end to one face thereof curing the free end of said finger, one edge of said metal strip'being wider than theremainder thereof; and a metal band slidable 'on said curler to secure the free end of the i clamping finger. I
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I 1 have hereto aflixed my signaas my own, I ture.
