Figure 1, is a side view of a head showing the adaptation therewith of a muscle lifting and holding device in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2, is a plan, broken away, of a muscle lifting and holding device in accord? ance with this invention.
Figure 3, is a fragmentary view reverse to that shown in Figure .2.

Figure 5, is a view similar broken away.
Figure 6, is a fragmentary view in plan illustrating a modified form of pulling members and securing strap.
Referring to Figures 1 to 5, both inclusive, a muscle lifting and holding device, in accordance with this invention, comprises a pair of oppositely extending combined lifting and holding elements, referred to generally by the reference characters 1, 2, and which are adjustably connected together. As each of the elements 1, 2, is of the same construction, but one will be described, as the description of one will. apply to the other.
Each of elements 1, 2, consisting of a coupling strip 3 formed of a length of suitable fabric of the desired width, and which if folded upon itself as at l, and with the fold secured in position by a row of stitching 5, to provide a pocket 6 in which is arranged a stifiening See Figures 2 and l. The width of the fold 4, is less than the width of the body 8 of the coupling strip 3, so that a portion 9 of said body will project outwardly from said fold. The constructing of the coupling strip in the manner as referred to provides the forward portion thereof of greater flexibility than the rear portion.
Connected to the portion 9, of the body 8, is a series ,of forwardly extending spaced clamping members 10, which are employed for detachably connecting to the coupling strip an adhering member 11, formed of adhesive fabric and of flaring contour.
Securedto the outer face of'the body 8, at the rear thereof, is a series of flat non- To all whom it may coaccm Be it known that l, SUSANNA Goonor'r, a citizen. of the United States, residing in the city and county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Face Lifters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a lifting device for the facial and neck muscles, and has for its object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of the class referred to capable of being detachably secured to the sides of the face to elevate the facial and neck muscles for the purpose of removing wrinkles thereby restoring the skin of the face and neck to its natural condition, smoothed out and free from wrinkles, so that the face takes on a brighter and more youthful expression.
It is well known that the sagging of the muscles of the face will cause wrinkles to form from nose to mouth, in the cheeks and in the neck, and further that when the face begins to sag, due to the sagging of the facial muscles, there is a dragging about the eyes causing the face to have a tired look, but by lifting and holding the facial 1nuscles for suitable periods, which is provided for by employing the. removable muscle liftingand holding device in accordance with this invention, this dragging sensation is relieved, the eyes are wondronsly rested, the expression of the face is changed, and one will look substantially the same as before the acial muscles began to lose their tone, as the application of the device will cause the lines of the neck and about the mouth and eyes to smooth out due to the lifting of the muscles referred to.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a removable facial and neck muscles lifting and holding device for the purpose referred to, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, compact, thoroughly efficient and convenient in its use, and inexpensive to manufacture.
in plan to F1gure 3,
l ith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications or stay member 7 lOl) elastic pulling members or tapes 12, 13 and 14-, and with the tapes 12 and 14 extendlng towards each other and disposed at opposite inclinations with respect to the tape 13. The tapes 12 and 14. are secured to opposite ends of the body 8, and the strip 13 centrally of the latter. The tapes extend rea-rwardly from the coupling strip 3 and have their rear ends secured together and to one end of an elastic strap 15. The tapes 12, 13 and 14 are employed for pulling or drawing on the securing member 11 when the strap 15 of the element 1 is connected to the strap 15 of the element 2, and the said straps 15 are adjustably connected together by a sliding buckle or clasp 16. The straps 15 provide means for securing the device to the head of the user.
Attached at its ends, as well as at portions of its rear edge, to the outer face of the body 8, is a length of tape 17, which constitutes a combined protecting and concealing memher for the ends of the pulling tapes which are secured to the outer face of the body 8, and also prevents such ends from causing any inconvenient feeling to the wearer, by pressing in the skin, when the device is worn. The tape 17 opposes the outer face of the body 8, tl'iroughout. The tape 17, as well as the coupling strip 3, is formed of non-elastic fabric.
The form shown in Figure 6, is the same as that shown in Figures 1 to 5, with the exception, that the pulling tapes 18, 19 and 20 are formed of elastic material, and the securing strap 21 of non-elastic material.
The manner of applying a muscle lifting and holding device, in accordance with this invention, is as follows With the fingers on the hair just above the ear, run them back to the crown of the head, bringing the upper hair forward and fasten it on the top of the head with a hairoin. See that the face is clean. If it is oi y, the member 11 will not adhere as strongly. Then wet the adhesive on the member 11 with just enough water or saliva to moisten it. Do not make it too wet. Then place the lower point of projcction of the ear. Hold this on and extend the member upward to the temple, just in front of the hair line as shown in Figure 1. See that the member 11 is smooth on the fare and hold it a few moments until it is dry. Whcn the adhering members 11, are firmly secured to the face, in the position stated, the elastic securing straps are secured together at the top of the head by the buckle and draw up very gently. The pull on the coupling strips is equalized by the pulling tapes The pulling tapes and securing straps, when the device is used, are concealed by the hair. See Figure 1. When the pull is had on the coupling strips 3 the muscles are lifted, to the desired extent, and after which the straps are secured in adjusted position. The device is worn any desirable period preferably during the day, but can be worn at night.
It is thought that the many advantages of a facial muscle lifting and holding de vice for the purpose referred to and in accordance with this invention, can be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, yet itis to be understood that changes in the details of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim is:
l. A device for the purpose set forth comprising a face muscle lifting and holding element consisting of a flat rectangular coupling strip having its forward portion of greater flexibility than its rear portion, a face adhering member extending lengthwise of, positioned against and projecting from said forward portion, spaced clamping members carried by said forward portion and engaging said adhering member for detachably connecting it lengthwise thereof to said strip, rearwardly extending pulling tapes having their forward ends secured to said rear portion, and a securing strap con-- nected to the rear ends of said pulling tapes.
2. A device for the purpose set forth comprising a face muscle lifting and holding element consisting of a flat rectangular coupling strip having its forward portion of greater flexibility than its rear portion, a face adhering member extending lengthwise of, positioned against and projecting from said forward portion, spaced clamping members carried by said forward portion and engaging said adhering member for detachably connecting it lengthwise thereof to said strip, rearwardly extending pulling tapes having their forward ends secured to said rear portion, a securing strap connected to the rear ends of said pulling tapes, and a combined protecting and concealing member secured to said forward ends of said tapes.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature hereto.
