IMPROVEMENT IN WOMB-SUPPORTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,839, dated OLtObBI 13, 1874; application filed August 22, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN MAAs, of Hamilton, State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in VVomb-Supporters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to that class of supporters in which a pad is held in position against the afflicted part; and consists, substantially, of a band forming a single piece, having an opening through which to pass the head, allowing the supports to rest on the shoulders and pass under the abdomen.
Figure 1 represents my supporter as applied to the person. Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the same ready for use.
The object of my invention is to provide a supporter which is eftectual, and can be easily adjusted, at the same time allowing the patient perfect freedom of motion without disturbing its adjustment.
In the accompanying drawing, Ais theband,
provided with the opening B for the introduction of the head, allowing the straps O G to rest on the shoulders, which bear the weight of the appliance and keep it in position. The lower portion of the band 1), which passes between the legs, is provided with a pad, E, made of any suitable soft material. The ends of the band are fastened in front to be easily accessible, the method of fastening, however, being immaterial. To hold it still more securely in position, I provide the straps f f, to pass around and be tied just above the hips.
Having fully described in yin vention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 7 The adjustable band A, with opening for the head, and shoulder-straps, all made of a single piece, and having attached to it the straps f f, and pad E, all as and for the purposes set forth.
