DISPLAY DEVICE.
Application filed November 3, 1923.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN L. LITTLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improve ment in Display Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a display device, and has for its objects the provision of a novel device, of simple and inexpensive form, for displaying and vending combs, and the like.
The device, generally speaking, comprises a frame formed with open-faced compartments, or sockets, each adapted to receive a comb, or like article, and provided with means for removably holding the article on display in the compartment.
With the foregoing in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described, it being understood that modifications may be made Within the purview of the claim.
One embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a front view of the device;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and,
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
In the form shown, the frame has a front 1 and a back 2, each made of a sheet of card- The edges 3 of the back are bent outwards and pasted, or otherwise secured, to the front. Compartments or sockets 4, each of suitable size and shape to receive one of the combs or articles 5 to be displayed, and preferably disposed in one or more vertical rows, are
Serial No. 672,513.
formed in the frame. The several compartments are separated by partitions 6 which may be conveniently formed by cuttlng the front sheet 1 and bending inwardly ghe portions 7 thereof, as illustrated in Fig.
Means are provided for removably holdmg the combs in the device comprising a crossplece 8 near one end of each compartment and a resilient finger 9 at the opposite end. These elements are preferably, though not necessarily, integral parts of the front sheet 1 and may be formed by snitably cutting or stamping the sheet. The frame may be furthermore provided with an easel 10 or other supporting means.
In using the device, the combs are inserted in the compartments with an end of each comb under a crosspiece 8 and the other end under a finger 9 thus removably holding the combs and displaying substantially the entire length to view, as shown in Fig. 1. To facilitate removal finger holes 11 are provided through which the forefinger may be Inserted so as to grasp the back of the comb between it and the thumb.
What I claim is:
A display device comprising a frame havmg front and rear portions, the said front portion being formed of a flat sheet of materlal 1n Which a series of vertically aligned loops have been struck therefrom adjacent one edge thereof and a series of vertically aligned fingers struck therefrom adjacent the other edge and paired with the said loops, the material between each pair of loops and fingers being rearwardly bent and olned to the front portion of said back to form a plurality of receptacles, and a support hinged to the said back.
