Beit known that I, GLEN'R. HILL, a lciti.
` zen of the United States, residing at Rainer,l
. in'the county of Montgomery .and State'of Alabama, have invented certain newA and useful Improvements in Bushings, ,of which the `following is a specification.
v In. carrying out the present invention, it lis my purpose -toprovide a bushing that is )Y specifically adapted for positioning within the barrel of a'shotg'un, lwhereby shells of a lesser gauge may be used 4in the in lieu of the specific gauge cartridge that is adaptedto be employed in conjunction with thev A further purpose. of my invention Vis the provisiony of such a bushingthat is of such a nature as to lbe .readily positioned withinshot barrels, it being of coursexunderstoo that these bushings are to be made of 51 widely varying sizes, so as to be employed 'vin conjunction with Shotguns of .varying gauges. The nature and advantages of the invention i willbe better understood when the followlowing detailed description is read in conl nection with, the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination,; and arrangement. of parts as ble with thepurposes of my invention2 one end yof this bushing being provided with a iiange 6, that is of a concave-convex nature,
perspective of oneof the' ,The bushing may be of a length equivalent to the length of the barrel o the shotgun, equal resu t-s being procured however, by providing a bushing of lesser length than the shotgun barrel. The bushing shown in the drawing is comprised of' a pair of half sections/7 and `8, it being of course understood that the same may consist of a great number of sections if desirable.
In applying this bushing to shotgun barrels, the same is positionedwithin the barrel on the .rear end thereof, the flange .6 being curved shoulder upon the end of the barrel.
The inner face of this bushing receives the usual bead uponthe'end of the shell for preventing the discharging of the shell from the gun.
In view of the above description, it will at once be apparent .that I have provided a shotgun attachment. that will answer y'the purposes. above set forth, and although I haveherein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, itis nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein, without departing from the spirit and 'scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus describedmy7 invention, what I clalm as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
In combination with the barrel of a shoty gun, a'cylindrical two-piece bushing adapted to be inserted therein for lessening the bore of the shot gun barre1,'said bushing comprising ab pair of similar longitudinal half-sections that are flanged upon their inner ends for engagement upon the usual shell retaining shoulder ofthe shotgun barrel, the contiguous longitudinal edges of said lsections being entirely smooth and flat and devoid of projections andl depressions.
In testlmony whereof I afiix my signature.
GLEN R. HILL.
