LINGERIE CLASP.

Application filed September. 8, 1924. Serial No. 736,582.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ELVA FOWLER CLOUD,

a citizen of the United States; residingat Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful. Improvements in Lingerie Clasps, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to clasps and more particularly to lingerie clasps, andthe general object thereof is to provide an improved lingerie clasp, particularly useful for holding the lingerie shoulder straps to a dress.

With the above and other objects in View the invention consists in the features of construction, combination of elements and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and pointed out.in the claims.

Referring to the annexed drawing in which my invention is illustrated and which forms a part of this specification:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of my clasp with the members thereof disengaged.

Figure 2 is a side view of my clasp with 25 the members thereof disengaged.

Figure 3 is a side view of my clasp with the members thereof engaged and clasping lingerie to a dress.

Figure 4 is a cross section of the clasp taken on line 44 of Figure 3. J

My clasp comprises a lower clasp member 1 and an upper connecting member 2. The lower member 1 is formed of a single strip of spring sheet metal 3 bent intermediate its ends at i'into a pair of spring jaws 5 and 6. ,A pair of guides 7 are bent upwardly and inwardly from the side edges of the jaw 6. A snap button 8 is pressed upwardly from the swinging end of the jaw 5 and a socket 9. is pressed upwardly in the swinging end of the jaw 6 to receive the but-ton 8 to hold the spring jaws 5 and 6 closed. Prongs 10 project downwardly from the inner side of the jaw 6. and sockets 11 are pressed downwardly from the inner side of the jaw between the jaws 5 and 6, the prongs 10 projecting through the strap into the sockets 11, and the jaws being detachably held closed in clasping position. by the engagement of the snap button 8 in the socket 9. The base 12 of the clasp member 2 is sewed through its eye 15 as indicated at 17 to the under side of the dress 18.

The dress is detachably clasped to the lingerie strap by inserting the head 13 of the member 2 in the guides 7. The member 2 may slide in the guides 7 with relation to:

the guide to provide for slight relative movement of the dress to the lingerie strap.

The member 2 is Having thus described my invention what I claim is:

1. A clasp as descrlbed comprising a pair of jaws for gripping a lingerie strap, guides on one of said aws, and a connecting member formed with a head for slidabl} engaging said guides, said connecting member adapted to be secured to the dress.

2. A clasp as described comprising a clasp member formed with a pair of jaws for gripping a lingerie strap, means for detachably holding said jaws in gripping position, guides on one of said jaws. and a. connecting member formed with a head for slidably engaging said guides, said connecting mem ber adaptedto be secured to the dress.

3. A clasp as disclosed comprising a clasp member formed with a pair of jaws, prongs on the inside of one of said jaws, sockets in the inside of the other jaw to receive said prongs when the jaws are closed in gripping position upon a lingerie strap, means for detachably' holding said jaws closed in gripping position, a connecting member, and interengaging means for detachably holding said members together.
