T 0 all whom e't may concern: Be 1111111011 11 that I, NEYA (l. -ANDERSON, a
citizen of the United "States, residing at the city of Jamestown, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented certam new and useful Improvements 111 Abdominal Gurdles, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification,
This invention relates to an improvement in an abdomen and hose support and has for its primary object to provide, in an article of this kind, hose supporting means which quickly and easily adapt themselves to the position of the wearer.
Hose supports depending from a band or corset are old and well known but they are open to the objection that they do not easily shift to adapt themselves to the various positions assumed by the wearer. ample, the hose support may be perfectly comfortable when the wearer is standing but when seated the strain on the hose is con siderably increased and causes discomfort to the wearer.
A further object of this invention is to provide in combination with hose supports an abdomen support which consists of a plurality of sections united by lacing in order to permit the adjustment to the wearer, certain of these lacings being so arranged with reference to the hose supports that they will regulate the length of thehose' supports.
Other objects of this invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawings which form apart thereof, and in which Fig. 1 is an illustration of one embodiment of this invention in the position as sumed when the wearer is standing;
Fig. 2 is a similar view of this embodiment showing the position assumed when the wearer is seated;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of one embodiment of this invention, the girdle being extended; and
Figs. 4 and 5 are enlargements of certain details of this invention.
Referring to the drawings the reference numeral'lO is employed to designate a combination abdominal and hose support embodying this invention andcomprising an abdominal support or'girdle 11 to which are secured hose supports of two types, viz side supports 12 and front supports 13.
The girdle 11 is made up of a plurality of For exsections14, 15f16 -and 17 whichare united "suitable lacings 18; 19 and 20 and the ends of thegirdlearejoined by means 'of' snaps or other wellknown means 21.
The front hose supports 13 may be made of the usual type and since they involve 'no invention need not be discussed further. The side supports 12 comprise a continuous Y web22, both ends of which are secured to the girdle forming a loop in which a single strap 25 is supported by means of a flattened ring 23 having a roller 24 around which the web'22 passes. Hose fasteners or clasps 26 of the usual type are secured to the, straps 25 and the front supports 13. By reason of the provision of the roller 24:, the ring 23 will shift quickly and :easily along theweb 22 in response to any changes in the position of the wearer. i
Referring to Fig. 3 it will be noted that the ends of the web 22 of one support 12 are secured to sections 1 1 and 15 which are united by lacing 18 while the ends of the web 22 of the other support 12 are secured to sections 16 and 17 which are united by lacing 20, and that the sections 15 and 16 are united by lacing 19. The lacings 18 and 20 which are thus located between the ends of the webs 22 obviously control the distance between the'ends of the webs and thus determine the length of the loop, and more over, the lacing 19 between the sections 15.
and 16 provides a further adjustment by determining the distance between the hose supports 12 to insure the location of the hose supports so that they will not-bind upon the wearer, whatever position be taken.
' The girdle 11 is not merely a narrow strap or band to carry the hose supports 12 and 13 but is made of a width suflicient to provide comfortable support for the abdomen and to avoid the necessity of a corset or other sup-- port. The lacings 18, 19 and 20 function not only to adjust the girdle to the body of the wearer but also to insure the correct location of the side supports.
While one embodiment of this invention has been shown anddescribed, applicant is not limited thereto, sinceit is obvious that other embodiments can be made without decomprising a narrow girdle made up of a plurality of sections including side and back sections united by lacing, front hose supports depending from said girdle, and side hose supports also depending from said girdle, said side supports each consisting of a web, one end of which is secured to a side section of said girdle and the other end of which is secured to a back section of said girdle, adjacent the middle, thus forming a loop the depth of which may be Varied by the lacing uniting said sections, a strap slidably carried by said loop and a hose clasp at the lower end of said strap, whereby upon the attachment of said side supports to the hose, the side and back sections of the girdle are held in place regardless of the position of the wearer.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
NEVA o. ANDERSON.
