Y. AKIRA ERSER ATTACHMENT Filed' Dec. 1925 W www u l Gtr w Patented Aug. 25, 1925s.
UNITED STATES YASUKICHI AKIRA, OF HONOLULU, TERRITORY OF HAWAII.
nnasnn ATTACHMENT.
Application filed December 6, 1923.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.'
Beit known that I, YASUKIGHI Annu, a subject of the Empire of Japan, residing at Honolulu, in the Territory o1E Hawaii, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eraser Attachments, of which the followingl is a specii'ication.
The present invention relates to an eraser attachment for pencils and the like and has for its principal object to provide a device of this nature which ma, he conveniently located on the pencil so a-s to be brought int-o use by the user of the pencil with practically no effort.
Another important object of the invention is to provide an eraser attachment oi this nature provided with a simple and efficient construction, one which is reliable, inexpensive to manufacture, and well adapted to the purpose tor which it is designed.
lilith the above and numerous other cbjects in view, as will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure l is a perspective view of the pencil and the attachment thereon,
Figure 2 is a transverse section taken therethrough,
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the pencil and attachment as grasped in the hand of an operator, and
Figure l is a perspective view of a modified form ont the attachment.
Referring' to the drawing' in detail, it will be seen that l designates a pencil of any desired construction which in the present instance is hexagonal in cross section. My attachment is indicated generally at A and Serial No. 679,011.
includes a sleeve 2, which is, in the present instance, hexagonal in cross section so as to be slipped over the pencil l so as not to rotate thereon. A. rib 3 is provided on the sleeve 2 and extends longitudinally thereof. This rib 3 is slotted longitudinally for the reception oi the blade or body 4 of the eraser. ln the modification shown in Figures l to 3 50 inclusive this blade or body 4 is preferably termed of a flexible material such as the rubber eraser combination now commonly used. and is held in place by a plurality ott rivets or similar devices 5. The blade or body el includes' a straight edge which is disposed in the groove of the rib 3 and curved edge (i the ends of which are utilized tor erasing purposes.
ln Figures I have shown a modified form olf the invention indicated Lgenerally at A. This modification includ-es the sleeve and the blade et which is formed int-egrally on the sleeve 2 and is of the general outline as that described in connection with 55 the blade le4 i It is to be noted, as can be seen in Figure 3, that the concave or inwardly curved portion 6 of the plate may receive the second linger or" the hand when writing and the thumb when erasing.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is:
An eraser attachment for pens and pen cils, comprising a sleeve and an erasingblade extending longitudinally *along one side of said sleeve and having' a central. portion curved inwardly toward the sleeve to provide a finger grip, .said blade also having` erasing' portions respectively in iront 80 and rear ot' the linger grip portion.
ln testimony whereof I atlix my signature.
