nnirsn @FFHQLL THOMAS 1VI. HARRIGAN, OF WOODSTOCK, VERMONT.
PEN AND PENCIL GRIP.
trainees,
Application filed. February T 0 (ZZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS M. Hrinnioan, of Woodstock, county of Windsor, State of Vermont, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Pen and Pencil (hips, and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and, exact description thereof.
The object of my invention is to provide an attachment for pencils and penholders which will assure a comfortable finger grip, prevent rolling of thepen or pencil, and be otherwise advantageous, all as set forth more fully hereinafter, and to which end my invention consists in the device substantially as hereinafter specified and claimed.
In the annexed drawings:
The figure is a perspective view of one embodiment of my invention, shown applied to a )encil.
encils and penholders are usually round, or nearly so, so that a comfortable grip is not possible, and if, (as is often the case, especially in pencils) their diameter is small, the discomfort of the grip is increased. By my invention, 1 provide a flat surface, of substantial area, for each of the two fingers and thumb, which are used in the grip, and increase the size of the body that is gripped, so that a. comfortable hold is assured, and therefore obviate the disadvantages from roundness and small size, and by the flat sides, of substantial area which I rovide, the rolling of the pen or pencil is prevented, and surfaces for receiving advertising matter are produced.
My grip, as shown in Fig. 1 is a tubular Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 13, 1922.
1, 1919. Serial No. 274,508.
The grip may he slipped over the pen or pencil point, and thus serve as a guard or protector for the point.
My device is highly useful, it is neat and attractive in appearance, especially when made of gold and silver, and its manufacture is easy and inexpensive.
What I claim is:
A device of the character described consisting of a tubular shell triangular in cross section, the internal diameter of the shell being substantially uniform from end to end thereby enabling contact with the pencil periphery from end to end of the shell, the three sides being joined at two of the angles and unconnected. throughout their length at the remaining angle.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
THAMES M. HARRIGAIJ.
