PATENT OFFICE.
NAUM COOPER, 0F CLYMER, PENNSYLVANIA.
'REENFORCEMENT FOB. TROUSERS.
Application filed September 5, 1924. Serial No. 736,158,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NAUM Coornn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clymer, in the county of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Reenforcements for Trousers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to reenforcing means for trousers, the general object of the invention being to provide a tuck at the lower end of the fly part of the trousers to relieve this part from strain.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary front view showing the invention in use on a pair of trousers.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary view showing the tongue formed on a part of the trousers.
Figure 3 is a view showing how the parts are arranged to provide the tuck.
Figure 4 is a section on line t-t of Fig ure 8.
Figure 5 is a view of the reenforcing member to which the tongue is secured.
In carrying out my invention I form a tongue 1 on the right hand leg portion of the trousers adjacent the lower part of the fly and provide a reenforcing strip 2 which is provided with a curved edge 3 and an inclined edge 4, the edge 3 being sewn with the seam 5 and theedge 4 with the seam 6 of the leg of the trousers. The tongue 1 is folded over and the folded edge stitched, as at 7, and the outer end of the tongue is then stitched to the strip 2, as shown at 8. Thus a pocket or tuck 9 is formed, one wall of which is composed of the tongue 1 and the other or inner wall is composed of a part of the strip 2. v This tuck normally remains closed but any strain placed upon this portion of the trousers willcause the same to open and thus the strain will be relieved due to the expansion of the trousers. The attachment will not change the appearance of the trousers in any way as it is normally hidden from view.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages, and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent,
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In a pair of trousers, a tongue formed on one leg portion adjacent the lower end of the fly, a reenforcing strip placed under this portion of the leg part and sewn in the 70 seams of the same and said tongue being folded over upon itself and connected to the reenforcing strip so as to form with said strip a tuck or pocket.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
N AUM COOPER.
