L. A. WEBER ET AL FOLDING BIER AND TRUCK Filed Feb. 10, 1925 Jim/2275015 Patented Aug. 18, 1925.
UNITED STATES LOUIS A. wanna AND moon ALLAN wanna: OECLEVELAND, onIo FOLDING BIER AND TRUCK,
Application filed February 10, 1925. 'Serial No. 8,170.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that we, LOUIS A. Wanna and JACOB (ALLAN WEBER, citizens of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have :invented certain new and useful Improve- .ments in Folding Biers and Tracks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements 1n -combined folding biers, or cofiin supports,
- and trucks.
Among the objects of the invention is to provide a support structure on which a cofiin can be readily placed and removed,
and which, when a coilin is mounted there on, can be moved about without apparent effort, and that is capable, when notin service, of being folded into a compact form to be easily carried by one person. Another ob'ect is to provide a rated, so as to give a sightly pleasing appearance when-in use as a bier.
ornamental, not liable to be broken or get out of repair, which is durable, and easy "to manipulate.
Other objects will appear from the detailed description to follow, and the invehtion will be clearly defined and pointed out in the claims. 1
A structure embodying the features of our invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing. forming a part of th s specification, in which.-
Fig. 1 is a top plan 'view of the improved structure in extended condition. y is a side elevation, and Fig. 3 .isa top plan of the structure when folded for transportation.
- In the drawing and throughout tlie de scripution similar reference characters are employed to designate corresponding parts. Referrlng to the drawmg, 1 represents a thin rectangular body member, vertically disposed, with the longer edges 1 and 1-;'
. as top and bottom respectively, The ends of the body member 1 are double beveled, or of angular formation, as shown at 1,
and wings 2 are attached vertically to the beveled edges by hinges 3. The win 2..
and the bod 1 are of the same vertica dical. planes, respectively,
- diti'on out of service.
iaccspli provide steps which position the V bier that;v may he upholstered, or appropriately deco-r i Fig. 2
.tures. mension an are so liinged that their top, and bottom edges, are in the same horizom' I The. body 1 and the wings 2 may be panelled and upholstered, as shown, or they maybe made otherwise more or-less ornamental or decorative. i
Casters 4 are attached to the bottom of theystructure, the body 1 being preferably provided with two, while each of the wings carriesone of. said'casters.
his novel construction allows the wings 2 to be [folded back against the body 1 in compactiorrm-ias' shown in Fig. 3, and to befex'tended,. or spread out in V-form, as shown in,Figs. ;1;and 2, thereby forming a staunch 'support. qfo ra casket, and a bier that has 'an-attractive appearance. casters make the structure portable when The in" seriice loaded, or when in' a folded con- The beveled edge wings 2 in their extended arrangement.
It 1s obvious that such changes in the form,:proport1on, and minor details of con- 7 structionof the parts as fairly fall within A further object is to provide a structure of this character that is light and simple,
the scopeof our invention may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificingany of the advantages thereof.
Having fully described our invention,
ters Patent is what we, claimand desireto secure by Let- V-form atthe ends of the body panel and to be folded against opposite sides of the body panelwithit-he free ends of the wings on each side of the body panel adjacent to each other, casters on the lower edges of said body panel and wing panels, and said beveled edges serving as stops to co-operate with said wing panels to position the latter in theirextended arrangement. 4 a
V 2. A bier comprising a body panel ver t-ical ly disposed, a pair 'of wing panels hinged tov each end .of said body panel andf adapted to extendtherefrom in V-form, jandthewing panels offeac-h pair being adapted tobe folded againstoppos-ite sides of the body panel with'the wing panels on each side ofthe body panel in end-to-end arrangement in. the same plane.-
In testimony whereof we 'aflix our 'signa Louis A. WEBER.
ALLAN WEBER.
