BAILEY, integral flanges 7 forming an annular recess a citizen of the United States, and a resi- 8 into which the inner or free edges of the dent of Toledo, in the' county of Lucas and iianges 5 it, thereby retaining the base sec- State of Ohio, have invented a new and usetions in assembled' relation and also proful Novelty Article, which invention is fully viding a simple and convenient means for set forth in the following specification. carrying the shell 6 in upright position by This invention relates to novelties and the base. A lamp receiving socket 9 for particularly to a bed-room night lamp havreceiving an electric lamp bulb 10 is mount- 10 ing provision for holding a quantity of pered in the shell 6 and has an electrical cord fume, toilet water, medicated liquid or other 1l leading therefrom to adapt the socket to preparation to be heated by the lamp and connected to any suitable source of elect0 @mit a, Vapor 'into the room t0 scent; the trical supply, as well understood in the art. Same The chimney 4, in the present instance, isv The object of my invention is to provideV 0f cylindrical form, being Yopen at its top lamps of this class with certain improved and bottom and has its lower edge seating features, one of which features consists in Within an upturned flange 12 at Athe outer the provisioi of a free circulation of air edge of the upper base section 3. through the lamp and around the liquid con- A liquid holding pan 131s mounted in the d tainer to prevent a too high or detrimental upper portion ofthe chimney 4, being suslieating of the same by the lamp. pende-d therein by the provision of an upper The invention is fully described in the edge flange 14 thereon which restson the up# following specification, and while, in its per end of the chimney. Thev pan when broader aspect it is capable of embodiment mounted in the chimney entirely closes the in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment uppe'i end opening thereof and in order to thereof is illustrated in the accompanying provide ventilation spaces or openings drawings, in which,- through the pan the upper edge of the pan Figure 1 is a central longitudinal section body is slit at intervals from the iange 14 of adevice embodying the invention with and the side portions 15 of the pan below parts in full. Fig. 2 is a top plan view the slits are pressed into the pan to provide thereof. Fig. 3 is a top plan View of the circulation spaces 16 up through the side liquid holding pan, and Fig. 4 is an enlarged portions of the pan or between the pan and fragmentary sectional view of a portion of chimney at intervals therearound. The botthe article base. tom of the pan and upper end ofthe lamp Referring to the drawings, 1 designates 10 are preferably disposed in adjacent relathe base of the article, which base is contion to facilitate a heating of the former. posed of lower and upper sections 2 and 3, A cover 17 in the present instance, of bellrespectively which are of circular form in form is mounted over the pan 13 and upper the present instance, and have their outer end of the chimney 14 and has an edge flange 40 or opposite ends flared, the former to form 17'a extending down around the chimney.

The lamp may also 55 such opening and is retained in assembledv be used as a means for heating a liquid or C other material so that vapor or scents emitted therefrom by the heatlng action may enter the room either to provide a pleasing odor therein or for medicinal purposes.
I wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction, arrangement or form of the parts, as 1t 1s capable of embodiment in numerous forms without departing from the spirit of the claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,- c
l; A lamp of the class described comprising a base, a chimney supported by and r1sing from the base, heat generating means vdis-posed within the chimney, a pan mounted within the upper portion of the chimney above the heat enerating means, and a cover mounted over t e pan, provision bein made for the circulation of air upward through the chimney and between the panand chimney and through the cover.
2. A lamp ofthe class described, comprisino' a base, a lamp socket in the base, an electrlc lamp in the socket, a chimney mounted on and rising from the base, a pan supported lby the chimney within the upper portion ass described, a
base, an electric lamp socket mounted in the base, an electric lamp mounted in the socket, a chimney mounted on and rising from the base in surrounding relation to the lamp, Said base having provision for the entrance of air into the lower portion of the chimney, a pan suspended within the upper portion of the chimney and having a ange resting on the upper end edge ofthe chimney, said pan having side portions split from the flange and pressed inward to provide passages for the circulation of air from the interior of the chimney above the pan, and a cover` mounted over the chimney and enclosing the pan, said cover having air passages in communicationwith the air passages of the pan.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name to this specification.
