IMPROVEMENT IN CORSETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 154,687, dated September 1, 1874 application filed i February 11, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES GUY LA FONTE, M. D., of Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain Improvements in Corsets and Bosom-Pads, of which the following is a specification:
'lhe invention consists in the Inode of attaching the shoulder-straps, which are removable and adjustable; also, in the construction of the bosom-pads, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In the accompanying drawing, A A represent the front parts, and B B the back parts, o t' a corset, which are connected by strips of rubber webbingHH. G C represent the shoulder-straps, each of which is composed of two strips of elastic material united by means of non-elastic pads C C', saidpads acting to prevent chaiing of the shoulders. Both ends of said straps are provided with hooks D, which render the straps entirely detachable from the corset. These two straps C are iirst attached to the top of the corset near the back by the hooks D entering perforations E. The straps are then passed over the shoulders and under the arm, and are hooked in the perforations F, a series of which are provided, so that the strap may be adjusted to different degrees of Ywith sponge.

A button and button-hole may be employed, as shown, to close said openings.
A strip of elastic material connects the pads, and they may be fastened to the corset by means oi' buttons and button-holes, as illustrated.
I claim as my invention- 1. A detachable corset-support, formed of two strips, C C, of elastic material, united by non-elastic shoulder-pads C C', as specified, and provided with attaching-hooks at each end, said hooks being attachedto the corset at the points and in the manner shown.
2. The bosom-pads I I, formed with openings in the back for convenience in inserting and removing the llin g, as set forth.
