. TELEPHONE MOUTHPIECE ATTACHMENT med nec'. 22. 192s Patented May 12, 1925.
UNITED STATES tsr/3sat GUSTAV H. SACKL, OF MILWAUKEE, XVISCONSIN.
TELEPHONE-MOUTHIPIEGE ATTACHMENT.
Application led. December 22, 1923.
To all 'LU/0m t may concern:
Be it known that I, GUs'rAv H. SACKL, a citizen ofthe Republic of Czechoslovakia, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of lliisco'nsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Telephone-Mouthpiece Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention relates to an attachment for a telephone, the general object of the invention being to provide means for holding a cover over the mouth piece of the telephone to prevent infection through the use of the telephone.
Another object of' the invention is to provide means whereby the cover can be easily and quickly removed and a new one put in place so that a new cover can be used by each user of the telephone.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and speci tically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view of a telephone showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is an enlarged view showing the holder attached to the mouth piece of a telephone.
Figure 3 is a view of the cover carrier.
Figure 4 is an enlarged view showing the cover in the carrier or frame and the frame in position on the holder.
In these views, l indicates a ring-shaped member which is provided with the spring clips 2 for engaging the mouth piece A of a telephone in such a manner that the ring is held in engagement with the outer edge of the mouth piece. A pair of spring clips 3 is carried by the ring-shaped member, the clips being oppositely arranged and forming holding means for a carrier or frame Ll. This frame is formed of a sheet of suitable Serial No. 682,251.
material which is folded in its center and each portion of this strip is provided with an opening 5 which is preferably of the same diameter as the ring-shaped member 1. A sheet t3 of absorbent paper is adapted to be placed between the two parts of the frame 4 to cover the openings therein and then the frame or carrier is placed in engagement with the clips 3, the parts being so arranged that when the frame is in position in these clips the absorbent sheet covers the opening in the mouth piece A and thus prevents the entrance of germs or any other matter into the mouth. piece of the telephone. After the telephone has been used the frame or carrier d is pulled out of the clips 3 and a new one inserted when the telephone is to be used again. The two parts of the carrier are connected together' in any desired inanner to hold the sheet G between them.
From the foregoing it will be seen that infectious diseases are prevented from being transmitted from one person to another through the use of the telephone as the absorbent sheet will catch gerins, dust and the like and prevent this matter from entering the mouth piece of the telephone.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may `make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
lVhat I claim is A device of the class described comprising a ring-shaped member having spring clips thereon for engaging the mouth piece of a telephone, holding clips on the outer part of the ring-shaped member, a frame adapted to be held to the ring-shaped member by the holding clips and a cover sheet supported by the frame, said frame consisting of a sheet folded upon itself and provided with a pair of registering openings, the cover sheet being arranged between the two parts of the folded sheet.
In testimony whereof I atiix my signature.
GUSTAV I-I. SACKL.
