F. C. PANTHER I MILK BOTTLE HOLDER Filed Nv. 21, 1921 muli 6 d f L w M Patented May 12, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
FERDINAND C. PANTHER, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
MILK-BOTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed November 21. 1921.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IinnniNAND C. PAN- Tiinn, a citizen of t-he United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of' Michigan, have invented a new and useful Milk-Bottle Holder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to deposit and collection receptacles, the primary object of the invention being to provide a collapsible receptacle especially designed for containing milk bottles or the like to prevent unauthorized persons from removing the milk bottle.
Another object of the invention is to provide a container of this character which is formed with suitable openingsto allow air to enter the container for Ventilating pur- Doses. I ,l/ith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of a container constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure Q is an elevational view disclosing the container in a folded or collapsed position.
lfigurc S is a side elevational view ot the same.
Figure is a sectional detail view of one of the bars, connecting the front and rear walls of the container.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the container embodies a rear wall 5 and a front wall (i, the walls being formed preferably of sheet metal and formed of inwardly extending flanges 7 to which the side bars 8 are secured.
These bars 8 are pivotally connected to the flanges 7 as at 9, and as shown, each of these bars is provided with rounded corners l0 to provide clearances between the front Serial No. 516,753.
and rear walls of the container and permit the front and rear walls to be moved to positions in close proximity to each other, as shown by Figure 2 of the drawing. In order that movement of the bars 8, with respect to the front and rear walls of the container, will be restricted, in one direction, flanges 11 are formed on the botto-m side bars, which flanges contact with the front wall of the container, as clearly shown by Figure 4 of the drawing and set up a wedging action therebetween. Y
The container also includes a bottom wall 12, and a hinged cover 18, the hinged cover being provided with a suitable opening to accommodate the lock 14 for locking the cover 13 in its closed position. Openings 15 are formed in the front wall of the container, to permit the contents of the container to be viewed by a person looking at the front wall ot the container. give easy access to tools should it be desired to attach the container to some object.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A container including a front wall, a rear wall and a bottom member, the front wall and rear wall being constructed of sheet metal and having their side edges bent inwardly to provide flanges, connectingl bars for connecting the front and rear. walls, said bars having pivotal connection with the flanges, each of said bars having a right angled end portion providing a flange, portions ot the bars adjacent to the last mentioned flanges being cnt away to provide, curved edges, the flanges of the bars adapted to engage the front wall of the container to restrict movement of the front and rear wall with respect to each other, and a hinged closure having connection with the rear wall and adapted to be secured to the front wall to hold the front and rear walls in spaced relation.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto ailiXed my signa*- ture in the presence of two witnesses.
FERDINAND C. PANTHER.
