Description

Patented pr. 28, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE,
CHESTER S. DEFFENBAUGH, 0F OROVILLE, CALIFORNIA.
CAMP STOVE.
Application filed April 14, 1924. Serial No. 706,362.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that l, CHns'rnn S. DnrrnN- canoni, a resident of Oroville, in the county of Butte and State of California, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Camp Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in fainp stoves, and the object of my invention is the provision of a camp stove which can be quickly set up for use or taken apart; which will be of small and compact size to permit storage and carrying in a small space; which will have a large cooking capacity or surface; which will be absolutely reliable and efficient in operation; and which can be sold at a very small price to render the article most desirable and practical.
To attain the desired object my invention consists of a folding` or collapsible camp stove embodying novel features of structure and arrangement, substantially as described and claimed, and as shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l represents a perspective view of a camp stove constructed'in accordance with and embodying my invention shown as set up, or in position for use.
Figure 2 represents a top plan view of the body or main portion of my stove.
llligure 3 represents a bottom plan view thereof, and
vFigure /lf represents a transverse sectional view.
'lhe camp stove constructed according to my invention is of the simplest and cheapest possible construction and consists of the rectangular casting forming the main portion or body l, which is formed with the flat top 2, the end flanges 3, and the side walls or flanges 4, which construction provides the pair of open spaces 5, for admission or circulation of heat, and said side walls are formed in their upper edge with the spaced recesses 6. The pair of flanges 7, of the top are provided in their lower edge with the recesses 8, which are in line with but below the level of said recesses G, this construction allowing the inner bent portions 9, of the supporting bars 10, to seat in the recesses 6,
while their depressed terminals or ends ll., seat in `said recesses 8, thus making a lock ing connection and support between the said rods or bars l0, and the body, as most clearly seen in "Figure 4.
From the drawing and description the construction and manner of using my camp stove will be obviously apparent, and it will be understood that the stove may be folded or collapsed and the supporting bars placed in the cavities or hollow portions 12, of the body, and when desired to use the stove it is simply necessary to lit the supporting post 13, in the opening 1.1i-, of the body and the stove when the bars are placed in position, as shown in Figure l, produces a practical camp stove which will connnend itself as filling a long felt want in a highly efficient and satisfactory manner.
I claim:
l. A camp stove consisting of a rectangnlar body having a longitudinal top, outer' and inner flanges having registering recesses, and a series of bars having their ends bent to engage and lock in said recesses, and a supporting post engaging said longitudinal top.
2. A camp stove consisting of a rectangular body having a longitudinal top, inner and outer flanges, said flanges having` recesses in trinisverse register but at different levels, and a series of supporting bars having bent portions to fit the recesses of the side flanges, and having their ends dcinessed to fit and lock in the recesses in the lianges of the top. Y
3. A camp stove consisting of a rectangular casting, having a top having a pairvof depending flanges, side flanges spaced from the top, said side and top flanges having recesses in line but at different levels, said top having an opening, a supporting post having its upper end fitted in said opening, and a series of bars having their inner ends bent to engage and forming an interlocking connection with the recesses in the flanges of the top and sides.
In testimony whereof I hereunto al'lix my signature.
CHESTER S. DEFFENBAUGH.
