v E. A. FREDRICKSON ATTACHMENT PQR REVLVERS Filed Oct. 50. 1922 alitouwg Patented pr. 28, 1925.
TENT-f BRICK A. FREDRICKSN, 0F DRYTON, NORTH DAKOTA.
ATTACHMENT Fon. BEvoLvERs Application led October 80, 1.922. Serial No. 597,891.
ot horth Dakota, have invented certain new.
and useful Improvements in Attachments for lievolvers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to flashlight attachments for fire arms and its principal object is to provide a flash light or illuminating attachment for ire arms which can be conveniently operated to illuminate the object or target to be shot at.
A further object of the invention is to provide an illuminating attachment for revolvers and other tire arms and includes a circuit closer operable from a point adjacent the usual firing trigger thus enabling both the circuit 'closer and firing trigger to be actuated by the same finger. i
It is also an object of the present invention to provide an illuminating attachment for tire arms which can be conveniently applied .tol'any type of fire arm and is such as to permit the fire arm to be operated without any interference whatsoever.
Vith the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, my invention consists in the novel combination of elements, constructions and arrangement of parts in operi ation to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, whereini Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention associated with a revolver.
Figure 2 is a front end elevation of the same.
.Figure 3 is a side elevation of the circuit closing element.
Figure 4 is a side elevation of the circuit closing actuating trigger, and
Figure 5 is an elevation of the attaching plate used in the invention.
Referring in detail to the drawing wherein' like characters of reference denote like parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 designates a conventional tire arm which in this instance is illustrated as a revolver.
In this connection I wish to emphasize the fact that the invention isvalso applicable to rifles, shot'guns and other weapons of this general character.v
Mv invention as reduced to practice com prises a pair of straps or clamps 6 which include circular parts 7 wluch embrace a ht indicated at 8 and exportable flash li tending longitu mally beneath the barrel of the revolver, and jaws 9 whichembrace the revolver barrel and are retained in clamped position thereon by bolts 10. As illustrated in Fig. 2 the flash light includes a laterally disposed reciprocable switch or contact 11 arranged adjacent the forward end thereof.
A plate 12 is attached to one side of the revolver 5 in proximity to the firing trigger thereof and pivoted to this plate 12 is an actuating circuit closin trigger 13 having an extension 14 to whic a contractible coil spring 15 is attached,l the latter having one end attached to la luv 16 formed on the rear end of the plate 12. 'lidably .mountdilongitudinally along the flash light 8 and' passing.
through a guide 17 formed on one side of one of the clamps 7 is a reci rocal circuit closing bar 18 which is engage with the contact or circuit closer 11 in any preferred manner so that when actuated the ash lioht circuit will be opened 'or closed. A link 9 is pivotally connected with the rear end of the circuit clos'ing bar 18 and is provided with a shoulder 20't0 limit the pivotal movement of this link in a downward' direction, the opposite end of the link being pivotally connected with the extension 14 as indicated at 21.
In the operation of seen that upon pulling the trigger 13 backward the bar 18 will be shifted longitudinally forwardly to actuate the circuit closer 11. Reversely upon release of the trigger the spring 15 will return the parts to normal position and ready for the next operation. With my improved illuminating attachment for fire arms it can be readily seen that when it is necessary to use the fire arm the device it will be in the dark, it is' only necessary to manipularly described the means best adapted to perform the functions set forth, various changes 1n form, proportion and 1n the minor details of construction .may be resorted to Without departing from the s `irit or 'sacrificing any of the principles o the invention.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is v In a device of the class described' the combination with a fire arm including a barrel; of a flash light removably secured to and suspended below said barrel, said flash light being provided with a circuit closing operating member and means for manually actuating said member comprising a. plate secured to the body of said fire arm, said plate being provided with a depending central portion and a rearwardly projecting lug, a trigger fulcrumed intermediate of its ends on the depending central portion of said plate, a longitudinally slidable bar supported immediately adjacent said flash light having connection with said circuit closing operating member, a link pivotally connecting the inner end of said bar with the inner end of said trigger, anda coil spring having one end engaged with said trigger intermediate its fulcrumed and inner end and having its opposite end engaged With the rearwardly projecting lug on said plate.
In testimony whereof I'aiiix my signature. I
ERICK A. FREDRICKSON.
