UNITED STATES FLOYD S. JIMISON, O'F LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
GAME.
Application flied February 9, 1922. Serial No. 535,138.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FLOYD S. JIMIsoN, a citizen of the United States residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Ilos Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to games of that type including game boards and game pieces adapted to be placed on or moved over the board, and a purpose of my invention is the provision of a game board having a surface comprising straight or curved lines denoting paths for the movement of game pieces, and symbols at points of intersection of the lines for designating resting places for the game pieces, the object of the game being to place the ieces or so arrange the same that there \Vlll be three consecutive pieces in a row.
I will describe one form of game board embodying my invention and one method of playing the game, and will then point out the novel features thereof in a claim.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown a plan View of one form of game board embodying my invention.
Referring specifically to the drawing, my invention in its present embodiment comprises a board designated at B and having a surface preferably colored blue with the exception of relatively wide lines which are preferably colored red, and stars S colored white. The lines are arranged to form an inner rectangle R, an outer rectangle R, and an intermediate rectangle R the rectangles graduating in area from the outermost one to the innermost one. Other lines L are arranged diagonally of the several rectangles so as to intersect the latter at their corners, while medially between the diagonal lines L are lines L positioned to intersect the side portions of the several rectangles. The stars S or any other suitable symbols are positioned at the points of intersection of the lines constituting the rectangles with the lines L and L, thereby arranging the stars in rows of three which ma be described either transversely, longitu inally, or diagonally of the board.
Game pieces G of any suitable design ma be employed in connection with the boar and one method of playing the game is as follows:
When two persons are playing the game, each person employs twelve game pieces.
The first person playing places only one game piece at a time upon any one of the stars S, it being the object of the player to so arrange the game pieces as to form trios or three consecutive game pieces in a row. The first person forming a trio is allowed to capture and remove from the board one of the opponents game pieces not forming a trio. However, if the opponent has no other game pieces on the board excepting those forming trios, the player has a right to remove one of the game pieces constituting any one of the trios, it being the object of the player to remove that game piece which is most disadvantageous to the opponent. lVhen all of the twenty-four game pieces have been put into play, that is placed upon the stars of the board, they are adapted to be moved along the paths defined by the lines and in any direction from one star to another to form trios, it being understood that the movement of one game piece from one star to an adjacent star constitutes a move. The winning player is the one who first succeeds in reducing the number of his opponents game pieces remaining on the board to less than three thereby preventing the opponent from forming a trio.
Although I have herein shown and de scribed only one form of game board embodying my invention and one method of playing the garlic, it is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be made herein without departing from the spirit of the invention and the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
A game board having a surface, the main portion of which is colored blue, and having wide lines colored red, said wide lines forming an inner rectangle, an outer rectangle and an intermediate rectangle, the parallel lines of the rectangles being evenl spaced apart, and having wide lines colore red and arranged diagonally to connect corresponding corners of the rectangles, and having wide red lines medially of the diagonal lines connectin the sides of the rectangles, and having w lite stars at the points of intersection, said stars being arranged in rows of three, either transversely, longitudinally, 'or diagonally.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
