Description
Mar. 3, 1925 F. L. M cARGAR FLAGGING KIT Filed July 22, 1924 Ila/5mm Patented Mar. 3, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FLAGGING KI'1.,
' Application filed July 22,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK LORNE Mo- OARGAR, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the city of Moose Jaw, in the Province of Saskatchewan and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flagging Kits, of which the following is a specification. r
This invention relates to improvements in flagging kits and the objects of the invention are to provide a device of this character with separate compartments for fuses, flag and torpedoes, the compartment for torpedoes and matches being attached to the compartment for fuses and hinged to enable immediate access to be made to the contents, while at the same time preventing the contents of the two compartments from. becoming mixed thereby facilitating the handling of the contents.
Referring now to the drawings in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure,
Figure 1 is a side .view of the complete kit.
Figure 2 is a plan view.
Figure 3 is an end view of lid.
Figure 4 is a section on line 4- of Figure 1.
In the drawings A designates the device as a whole, preferably as here shown of tubular form, and consisting of a main tube 3 integral with which is formed a smaller tube 4 adapted to hold a flag.
The main tube3 is provided with a suitable handle 5 formed of wire bent to detachably engage with the fastenings 6 on the outside of the main tube 3. The main tube 3 is provided with a cover 2 connected therethrough by means of a hinge 11. This cover is also tubular in formation and adapted to form a compartment for holding 1924. Serial No. 727,506.
matches. Within this cover and supported on rests 12 is a detachable cover or lid 10 provided with a knob 9 for lifting it out, the main cover being held in position when closed by means ofa hinged member 7 carried on the opposite side thereof to the hinge 11 and provided with a turn button 8 for fastening it and formed at its lower end with a slot adapted to engage with a turn button 8 in the outside of the main tube 3.
18 designates the closed end of the main cover. It should also .be noted that the flag tube 4 is left open at the top 16 and closed atthe bottom 15, while the main tube is closed'at the bottom 17.
'As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of my 1nvention, within the scope of the claim, constructed without'departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
A flagmans kit comprising a cylindrical container adapted to contain fuses, a cylindrical closure hinged to the container and adapted to contain torpedoes, a flag holding tube and a handle secured to the outside of the container, the closure for the container having a removable cover for the open end FREDERICK LORNE MoCARGAR. Witnesses: V i H. A. SPENCE,
1 L. I. MITCHELL.
