Description

Dec. 23, 1924.
M. L. ARNOLD sclwname PAIL Filed Feb. 6, 1924 Patented Dec. 23, 1924.
UNITED STATES MARGARET L. ARNOLD, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
SCBUIBBING PAIL.
Application filed. February 6, 1924. Serial No. 690,927.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, fl/IARGARET L. ARNOLD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Scrubbing Pail; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a scrubbing pail or receptacle and comprises means for containing and housing the scrubbing elements and cleanser that may be used in order to always have the same handy and accessible in use and when desired, and without the liability of having the same lost or misplaced when not in use.
This invention comprises the novel mechanism and combinations hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out and defined in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment of this invention and in which similar reference numerals refer to similar features in the different views,
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the scrubbing pail.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the pail.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section through the pail substantially upon the line 33 of Fig. 1 showing the tray swung outwardly in dotted line position.
In referring to the drawing, the pail is illustrated as consisting of sheet metal having the usual handle 1 and the bottom formed by curling a bead in the lower margin of the metal. A watertight partition 2 is secured intermediate the top and the bottom of the pail to define an upper fluid containing compartment and a lower compartment in which a tray 3 is hinged that is adapted for containing the cleaning agent,
sponges, wiping cloths, etc., in order to always have the same handy when the same are in use and to also afford a convenient storing place when not in use.
The lower compartment is of cylindrical form and is open upon an arc of 180 as shown in Fig. 3. The tray which is in the form of a cylindrical container open at its upper end is hinged to the pail adjacent to the said opening, and is provided with a knob at whereby the same may be readily grasped and swung within and without its compartment. The dotted line position in Fig. 3 shows the tray swung outwardly, and in such position it may serve as a holder for those utensils or articles not in use.
The scrubbing pail forms a very handy device when in use and serves as a place to store the scrubbing elements, cleanser, etc., when not in use.
I am aware that many changes may be made, and numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted hereon, otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention:
1. A scrubbing pail comprising a vessel having a fluid compartment and a chamber below said compartment and a tray hinged so as to swing into and out of said chamber.
2. A scrubbing pail having a water tight partition intermediate its top and bottom for defining an upper and a lower compartment, the lower compartment having an arcuate opening, and a tray hinged in said lower compartment and swingable through said opening for the purpose described. 7
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MARGARET L. ARNOLD.
