Be it known that I, Louis BLooM, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Ii'nprovements in Embroidery Machines, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in embroidery machines, and has for its object to provide means to feed embroidery thread directly to the machine from the original spools Without rewinding, and also to feed simultaneously from a plurality of such spools threads of various colors or the same color.
The attachment of my invention comprises a spool-carrying arm, equipped with spacing collars and secured to the depending spool-holding tension bracket of the embroidery machine by a suitable clamp.

Description.
The drawings indicate the machine-bed as 3, and depending therefrom are the threadtube 4 and bracket 5, said bracket 5 carrying the spool-holding pin 6 whereon the secondary spool 7 is mounted. The tensioniinger 8 is also empty or carried by the bracket 5 and bears upon the body of the spool 7, serving both to keep the spool 7 on the pin 6 and to maintain pressure upon said spool 7. The bracket 5 also holds the eXible tensionsarm 9 provided at its free terminal with the loop 10.
The parts thus described are those of the standard embroidery machine commonly used in the art; and for use upon such machine and as a part thereof, I have provided the extension A, formed as shown in the drawings, its upper terminal 11 being secured to the bracket 5 by means of the clamp 12. The lower terminal of said extension A being the spool-holding rod 13, which is held in parallel alinement with the secondary-spool-holding pin 6.
Upon the rod 13 I have provided collars 1.4 each having a set screw l5, and in the Serial No. 688,968.
the machine by being looped over the secondary spool 7, then through the loop 10 and into the tube 4. The thread is operated upon by the machine in the usual manner.
Mode of operation.
In the present use of the embroidery machine for which my attachment is intended, the thread is rewound from the commercial spool 16 to the smaller secondary spool 7 which is used as a part of the machine. Then two colors are desired to be. simultaneously fed, the thread of those colors is wound from the two original spools 16 upon the secondary spool 7. The capacity of the spool 7 is approximately one-fourth the! capacity of the ordinary commercial spool.
It is the primary object of my invention to enable the commercial spool 16 to be used upon the machine without rewinding; and also to enable two or more colors to be fed simultaneously to the machine from such original spools 16.
In the use of the apparatus of my invention, a uniform tension is preserved in each of the several threads being fed from the spools 16, as described.
Variations in structure may be made from the form shown in the illustrations, which is intended to be merely illustrative, without departing from my invention, as it is defined in the following claims.

1. In an embroidery machine having a spool-holding tension bracket, an auxiliary spool-holding arm; and a clamp securing said arm to said tension bracket; said bracket and arm being arranged to hold an empty spool and a supply spool respectively.
2. In an embroidery machine havin a spool-holding tension bracket, vthe combination of an auxiliary spool-holding arm; adjustable collars mounted on said arm;`and a clamp detachably securing said arm to Said bracket z,L Said bracket and ariii being ar ranged to hold an empty Spool and a Supply spool respectively.

In an embroidery machine, iii combination, a secondary spool; a tension device for Said spool; and an arm arranged to hold one or more primary spools n parallel alieiiient with said Secondary Spool, Said primary spools being arranged to feed their contents to the machine by Way of said seol0 o'iidary Spool.
