PATENT @ENCE VICTOB. JEAN BAPTSTE GATTELET, OF LYON, FRANCE.
MEANS FOR ATTACHING THE MOP CLOTH TO THE HEAD 0F A IVIOP.
Application filed October 14, 1922. Serial No. 594,488.
T 0 all whom t may concer-n:
Be it known that I, Vieron JEAN BAr'rIsfrn GATTELET, a citizen of the French Republic, and resident of Lyon, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Attaching the Mop Cloth to the Head of a Mop, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to a new cr improved means for attaching the mop cloth to the head of a mop.
It consists in mounting the cloth on an elastic band having a number of eyelets arranged at intervals by which it can be attached to hooks arranged on the edge of the wooden head serving to carry the mop cloth.
The elasticity of the band can be obtained by employing either an elastic fabric or a band of rubber, or by one or more metallic springs preferably arranged in the interior of the band.
rlhe accompanying drawing show by way of example two applications of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a mop head provided with a cloth formed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of same.
Figs. 3 and 4 are respectively section and plan view of a modification of this arrangement.
rIhe band a of the mop cloth Z) is made of elastic fabric. It is provided at intervals with eyelets o', c2, c3, by which 1t can be attached to the hooks cZ, d2, d3, arranged around the edge of the head e.
This head may be of any shape and made entirely of wood as shown in Figs. l and 2 or of wood reinforced with a metal plate as shown in Figs. 8 and 4.
The upper surface of the head is fitted with a bracket g between the sides of which a socket i is pivoted into which a handle c may be screwed to operate the mop,
The cloth is placed in position by passing the eyelet c over the hood d', then pulling the elastic band t and passing' the eyelet c2 over the hook Z2 and so on untii the last eyelet c7 is aiiiXed to the hook d.
The small cloth y', placed' under the head, 50 is attached in the same way between the two hooks d and d4.
l/Vhat l claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A. mop comprising a head having hooks on its periphery the bills of which all eX- tend in the same direction, and a mop cloth having an elastic band provided with eyes to receive the hooks, said cloth being stretched around the periphery of the head and by its retraction causing the eyes to he held against the shanks of the hooks at the inner ends of the bills thereof.
ln witness whereof l afiix my signature.
VCTOR JEAN BAPTISTE GATTELET.
Vi/Titnesses JEAN GERMAIN, HUGH H. VVATsoN.
