GUARD-RAIL CLAMP.
Application filed April 12, 1922.
This invention relates to improvements la in the manufacture of guard rail clamps and more particularly to the yoke members thereof. An important object of my present invention is to provide a guard rail clamping device, the yoke member of which is formed W of a standard rolled section and desirably of a rail section whereby substantially economies are effected in the manufacture thereof as compared with the guard rail clamps as heretofore made wherein the yoke members are in the form of special castings requiring foundry facilities for their production.
In accordance with my present invent on 1 form the yoke member for the clamping 25 device of a suitable standard rolled section of rail, which for the purpose of further economy may be scrap rail section suitable for the purpose which is suitably deformed to adapt it for performing the functions of 30 the rail clamp yoke to properly coact with Serial No. 552,017.

This yoke member 3 is, in accordance with my invention, made from a standard rolled rail section in the form illustrated and as hereinafter more fully described, to coact with the associated parts of the rail clamping device.
Arranged to coact with the yoke in the clamping of the rail and to space the respective rails from each other a suitable spacer or filler block 41-5 is provided and interposed between the respective rails as shown. This spacer block is composed of the two parts a and 5 which are separated in a vertical plane on a diagonal line to be capable of engagement in different positions of relative longitudinal adjustment so as to determine and adjust the separation of their outer contacting surfaces and in consequence the spacing of the rails. The adjacent and contacting surfaces of the parts forming the block are desirably formed with vertical corrugations composed of ribs 6 and grooves '7 qrlqni-nrl tn wm-iqtor en a: tn "nrpvpnr, rela- C.
