Be it known that l, Enoonrrrnnn H. BROOKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Denver and State of Qolorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tent Edtruo tures; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in tent structures and more particularly to im provements in tents of the umbrella type having main central vertical support and a plurality of radially directed supporting arms.
The objects of the present invention are to improve the construction of tents of the type indicated with a View to relieving the tent proper of undue strains prolonging its life and assuring uniform and correct stretching thereof and also to provide an improved structure facilitating the assembly or disassembly of the parts and also adding inaterially to the life of the device. E ther ob jects will more particularly'appear in the course of the following detailed descrip-- tion.
The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combinations of parts as hereinafter more particularly de scribed and claimed.

The present invention is particularl adapted to tents of the umbrella type indicated generally by the numeral 1, which may be square or various other polygonal Eerie! No. 649,363.

Arranged in each corner of the tent adja- 7c cent the top of the wall parts is an. angle iron 11 bent at an angle corresponding to that of the Walls of the tent each angle iron 11 being provided adjacent its hand with a vertical slot 12" adapted to receive the fiat- "J5 tencd part 6 of one of the radial arms '2. The angle members are further provided with holes. 12 and interposed between the adjacent angle irons and secured thereto are chains or other non-espansible hut flexible 89 members 13. By reason of the structure just described it will he apparent that the arms 7 may he readily removed and replaced and may also no be reversed so that in assembling no particular attention need be paid to these mom-- bers. It will lurther he noted that by reason of the non-expansiole and flexible memhers 13 the tent may be readily folded and paclredwhen down may at the same time be stretched to maximum tensity when erected without endangering the fabric of the tent thus assuring walls of maximum rigidity and correct shape.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and, desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a tent having central support provided with a plurality of radially disposed 105 arms, a non-expansible member girdling the tent and secured thereto provided with seats adapted to receive the ends of the arms.
2. The structure described in chain 1 in which the non-expansihle member includes a N0 plurality of flexible members and a plurality of rigid angle members, the flexible members secured at their ends to the ends of the angle members, said angle members each provided at the bend with a. transverse slot, adapted to seat the ends of the arms.
'3. The structure described in claim 1 with a slide member on the central support and with the radial arms constructed-with similar flattened ends each provided with a transverse orifice, the slide provided with a plurality of radially disposed pivot lugs arranged circumferentially in pairs, said arms being reversible by reason of their flattened ends and removably pivoted between said lugs, substantially as specified.
4. The structure described in claim 1 with packing interposed between the tent and the outer face of the girdling member immediately adjacent the seatsfor the arms.
5. The structure described in claim 1, with a tent having pockets provided along the eaves line and with flexible packing members positioned intermed1ate the pockets, the girdling member being passed through said pockets formed on the tent intermediate the arm seats and interiorly of the flexible packing members.
6. In a tent having a central support provided with a plurality of radially disposed arms, a non-expansible flexible member girdling the tent and secured thereto provided with seats adapted to receive the ends of the arms.
