Description
Sept. 2. 1924.
M. MIGDALOWITZ DOUBLE POCKET AND MEANS FOR LOCKING SAME Filed March 13 Illl Illlll' INVEHTOR Moses Mi clulowi 3 M144 7 WORK Patented Sept. 2, 1924.
UNITED STATES MOSES MIGDALOVITZ, OF ROCHESTER, NEW
NATHAN SINGER AND ONE-THIRD T YORK.
YORK, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO PHILI? ROSEN, BOTH OF ROCHESTER, NEW
DOUBLE POCKET AND MEANS FOR LOOKING SAME.
To all whom it may Be it known that a citizen of the United Application I, Mosns Mronanowrrz,
States, residing at Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 111 Double Pockets and Means which the following The object of this trousers, coats or for Locking Same, of is a specification.
invention is to provide other garments with double pockets and means whereby these pockets can be locked so valuable articles may that money or other be carried therein without risk of having it accidentally lost or stolen by pickpockets.
These and other objects of this invention will be fully illustr ated in the drawing,
Figure 1 is a persp ective view of a portion of a pair of trousers provided with the double pocket and the means for locking it.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the pocket.
In the figures of the drawing, like reference numerals indicate like parts.
The double pocket forming the subject matter of this invention is adapted for trousers, coats and other garments in which the pockets are provided on the outside where they are easily accessible.
Articles or money carried in the outer pockets of trousers, coats, etc., are always carried at the risk of losing them by accident, or by having them picked means are provided by pickpockets,
unless some whereby the pocket or pockets can be locked.
Double pockets are desirable because 1t makes it possible to carry money in one-half and other articles in the other half of the pocket so that the contents of one half of the pocket cannot get mixed up with the contents of the other half.
The double pocket in combination with the locking means therefor is illustrated in the figures of the drawing.
form of the or that a partition 2 is sewed made up in the pocket except The pocket is dinary single into the pocket that divides the single pocket into two compartments 3 and 4.
The front of this a strip of goods ma partition is faced with tching the material of filed March 13, 1924. Serial No. 698,882.
the trousers or has such a strip attached thereto and in this strip are provided two button holes 5 and 6. Buttons 7 and 8 are located on the inside of the pocket, one on each side of the partition 2 and opposite to the button holes provided therein. These buttons are placed on the inside of the pocket so that they divide the length of the pocket into approximately three sections. lVhen, therefore, the buttons are buttoned to the partition 2 from each side of the pocket the large openings leading into each of the pockets are reduced to a point where a hand can no longer be inserted into the pockets. In buttoning up each button the opening of the pocket which it closes is reduced in size approximately one third which is enough to prevent the insertion of the hand into this particular pocket. The other pocket is closed in the same way with a button located on the opposite side. Either one or the other or both of the pockets can thus be locked with the two buttons.
A double pocket made up in accordance with this invention is thus in appearance identical to a single pocket in that it is not necessary to add much material to a single pocket to make it into the double pocket. By providing two buttons to the pocket and two button holes in the partition in the manner above described and illustrated in the drawing the two halves of the pocket are locked without providing bulky means that would make the pocket protrude from the trousers as is now the case with pockets having locking means provided thereon.
I claim:
1. A double pocket and means for locking same comprising two exterior walls, a partition located between said exterior walls, a button on the inside of each of said exterior walls, one of said buttons being located .about one third of the length of the opening of the pocket from one end thereof and the other button being located an equal distance from the other end of the opening of the pocket, said partition having a pair 0 button holes provided therein located opposite to the buttons provided on the inside of said exterior walls, said partition being adapted to be buttoned to each of said exterior walls with one of said buttons to reduce the opening leading into each half of the double pocket whereby both pockets at the button holes provided in saidpartition, the same time or either pocket may be locked said partition being adapted to be partly 1 independently of the other pocket. buttoned to one of said outer walls and 2. In a double pocket, the combination of partly to the other of said outer walls to two outer walls, a partition between said partially close each of the pockets of said outer walls having two button holes prodouble pockets. vide'd therein, a button onthe inside of each In testimony whereof I afiix mysignature. of said outer walls and opposite to one of MOSES MIGDALOWITZ.
