G. H. BAUST SANITARY KIT FOR BUTCHERS KNIVES Flled 0012. 2, 1922 M w a Patented Aug. 12, 1924.
UNI'ID tsetse? GEORGE HENRY BAUST, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA.
SANITARY KIT FOR BUTCHERS KNIVES.
Application filed October 2, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. BAUST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Kits for Butchers Knives, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention, is to provide a case for the knives used by butchers engaged in slaughtering, the receptacle be ing constructed of metal, and adapted to be sterilized in hot water, whereas the leather case commonly in use can not be'kept in sanitary condition.
A further object is to provide a case of this type with suitable means for supporting the knives in vertical position without danger of dulling them, and to provide a hinged element formed with slots or the like, through which a supporting belt may be passed.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of elements described, illustrated, and claimed, it being understood that modifications may be made within the scope of the claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention. 7
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, the knives being shown in dotted lines.
The case is preferably formed of alumi-.
mum and includes a back 10 formed in two sections, the upper portion being designated 10 and connected with the main portion by a hinge 11, formed by rolling the ap- Serial No. 591,978.
preaching edges and providing a pintle 12. The hinge permits the back 10, 10 to yield when the deviceis suspended from the waist of the user and when assuming a bending position.
ilized.
lVhat I claim is 1. A. device of the class described, comprising upper and lower sections, a hinge for connecting said sections along a transverse line, the upper section being provided with slots, a belt passing through the slots. an open-top receptacle carried by the lower section, and a strip of flexible material on the upper side of the bottom of. the receptacle.
2. A device of the class described, comprising hingedly connected sections of sheet metal, an open-top metallic receptacle carried by one of the sections, the other section being slotted, and a supporting device constituting at waist belt, passing through the slotted portion.
In testimony whereof I afiix my ture.
signa- GEORGE HENRY BAUST.
