CONCRETE FORM AND SUPPORT FOR THE SAME.

T o all whom it may concern Be it known that we, EDWIN M. MQHRMAN and CHARLES R. MCNIECE, citizens of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahogaad State of Ohiol, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Concrete Forms and Supports for the Same, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. This I invention relates generall to concrete forms and more particularly to the supporting means for such forms.
The object ofthe invention is to provide a simple construction of support for the vconcrete form and whereby great economy is had in the use of shoring; and another object is to provide a novel form of support for the forms or pans which support is of such a nature that the forms or pans can be quickly and easily removed without disturbing the support as a whole and a still further object is to provide a combination forml of support capable of use in connection with either the arched or slabbed form of pan.
With these objects in view, and certain others which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the' novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement, all of which will be fully'described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims. In the drawings forming a part of this s ecification Fig. 1 is a sectional kperspective s owing the practical ap lication of my invention; Fig. 2 is a detai sectional view showing the adjacent edges of a pair of forms together with the spacer and supports for said spacer and forms; Fig. 3 is a sideelevation` of said arts; Fig. 4 1s a lmodiied form of supporting arm; Fig. 5 is a sectional view showing the application of our invention to the slabbed form and Fig. y6 is a view illustrating the manner of bridging the space between two adjacent forms.
In carryin out` our invention we em loy sheet metal ormswhich lmay be arche as shown at 10 in Figs. 1 and 2 or flat as shown at 11 in Fig. 5. In' both instances the edges of the forms are Hanged asshown at 12.
- The forms 'are arranged with their anged edges in parallel relation and resting Aupon the flanged edges is a sheet metal spacing and the wooden strip 14 rests between. said poured and permitted to set for a short pestrip 13 rigidly secured to a strip of wood 14, the metallic spacing strip being of suficient length to serveas a spacer for a considerable number of forms arran ed end to end and it willbe noted that the s eet metal spacing strip 13 rests upon the flanged ed e 6o flanged edgesand in this manner the flanged edges of the forms are spaced apart the proper distance and the bottom of the mold is provided which will prevent the escape of cement or concrete when the same is poured upon the assembled forms as. most clearly shown in Fig. 1. The spacer is supported upon a strin er 16, said strin er 1n turn resting upon t e beam 17 which earn is supported by any suitable form of shorin 18. It will be noted by reference to the rawing that one beam 17 is sutiicient to support a considerable number of strin ers 16 and that a limited 'amount of shoring will be necessary to support the beam 17. Bythis arrangement great economy in shorin is 0btainable. 1n order to support the e ges of the forms or pans in engagement with the spacers we provide supporting members 19 which are preferably 1n the yform o1 ve'set metal arms pivotally connected at 20 to a stirrup 21 which straddles the Stringer 16 and which can be placed at any desirable point upon saidbeam.' The supporting arms are of such length and shapev that when turned up they will engage the edge of the band and form the proper support for the same and hold the anged edge .in engagement with the spacer and in order to prevent dislocation of said arms a fastening bolt or pin 22 can be passed through an opening 23 in the lower end of the arminto the Stringer thereby prevent any movement'of said arm. After the cement or concretehas been riod the pans can be removed provided the molded body is supported at definite intervals, such as at the base of the beam portion and it is with the object of uichly removing the pans and still providing the proper support for the moldedstructure that we have designed the present type of support; and it will be rea ily seen that it will` be onlyl necessary to withdraw the locking pins 22 and turn down the arms 19 to release the ma pane' and all et which een be accomplished neo without disturbing the central support beneath the spacer and the 'beam port-ion of the floor'or ceilin Inasmuch as the pan supporting arms are connected to the stirrupswhich can be placed point upon the Stringer it is obvious at auf;7 all `o the supporting parts will be kept iny ltheir proper assemblage form and consequently there will be no ,loss of time in getting together the various coacting elements which goto make up the support. In the truss 23 `may be provided if desired `to give slab type of form shown in Fig. 5 a suitable the necessary strength to support the central portion of the slab. In Fi 6 we have shown one method of bridging the spacev between the two forms arranged end to end and spaced slightly apart, the bridging piece being shown at 24`supported upon a Stringer 25 which in turn may be supported in any suitable manner, the ends of the.l bridging piece 24 restlng upon the end portions 26 of the formv or spacer and preferably spacer. From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be seen that we provide a novel construction of concrete form comprising pans and fillers adapted to coo erate with one another and .that in connection withsuch pans and filler limited number of transverse beams requir-` in a mlnlmum amount of shormg.
