Description

Patented June 7 10, 1924.
UNITED STATES SAM PASIGHNIK, OF RACINE, WISCONSIN.
& i STOVE.
Application filed June 28, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAM PASIGHNIK, a citizen of Rumania, residing at Racine, in the county of Racine and State of Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in heating devices of the stove type in which solid fuel is consumed, the main object being to produce a stove in which the heat produced is conserved and retained in an economical manner.
Another purpose is to provide a stove in which the fuel is easily entered, the ashes re moved and the draft readily controlled.
These objects are attained by ,the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a stove made in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary transverse sectional view taken in the plane of the heat dispensing openings.
In the drawing, the numeral 5 designates the base of the lower element of the stove, the same being supported on legs 6 of the usual type at a distance from the floor.
A raised annular ridge 7 surrounds the ash box 8 having a door 9 provided with controllable draft openings 10, this door being hinged in the customary manner.
A grate 11 is supported by fire brick 12 or the like above the door opening and disposed between the brick 12 and ridge 7, is an interior circular fire wall 13 enclosing the fire boX 14, this fire wall being abruptly increased in diameter at the shoulder 15.
Set in the wall is a fuel entrance door 16, above which the wall is turned in forming an arched top 17, terminating in an outlet 18.
The main or outer wall 19 of the stove Serial No. 648,203.
rests on. the edge of the base 5 extending as a cylinder up to a point above the door 16, which is of course accessible through it, and at the plane of the shoulder 15 is provided with a series of open, vertically elongated slots 20 for disbursing heat.
The space between the walls 13 and 19 is filled with a granular substance 21 adapted to retain heat but being non-combustible, as for instance sand.
A domed cover 22 having aflange 23 resting on the top edge of the casing 19, presents a space 2% open to the space containing the sand and terminates in a cylindrical collar 25 tightly encircling the element 18 and forming a seat for the stove pipe 26.
It is believed the foregoing clearly discloses the construction and the operation will be plainly obvious, it is pointed out, however, that the sand retains the heat communicated to it by the burning fuel for a very considerable period of time and that due to the openings the heat is readily dissipated to the surrounding air so that little if any escapes, thereby using it in a highly economical manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A stove having a cylindrical outer wall containing a single circumferential row of spaced openings, near its upper end a second imperforate inner wall spaced from the first wall, a body of sand disposed between said walls below the mentioned openings, a fire box disposed within the inner wall at the bot-tom thereof, means for supporting the stove above a floor, a hollow arched crown resting on the said outer wall and open to the space above the sand, and an outlet for smoke communicating with the space above the fire box.
In witness whereof I have afiiXed my signature.
SAM PASICHNIK.
